Gap Around The Seat

Should there be a gap between the seat and the bike on my 07 abs? It fits tight around most of it, but in the center on both sides is gap of about 3/4 of an inch. Is this normal or am I putting the seat on wrong?

It sounds like you're not getting the "hooks" on the bottom of the seat pan hooked into the bike.... :unsure:

It sounds like you're not getting the "hooks" on the bottom of the seat pan hooked into the bike.... :unsure:
I didn't think it looked right, I'll just have to mess with it some more, thanks

There is definitely a gap, but it's pretty much even.

Put the bottom hooks in, and then push forward and down on the rear.

Try to get under the front hooks first then slide it back and seat should drop down into place, then latch the back with a push down.

should be a seemless gap

+1. tHE TABS on the bike have rubber cushions over them. It sounds like you arent geting the tabs on the seat in the right place.

I would think it would be hard to latch as well, not being lined up properly. Start at the back. and slide it forward. You can llok at the bike and seat and easily see how it works. HTH.

Just wondering.... Does your seat look any more spaced than this one?

Yes it does look like that. It was those 2 wide rectangular notches that made me wonder if the seat was on properly. So Monk, are you telling me this is normal?

I've got a Sargent seat on mine also (that's what Monk has) and mine fits much tighter. I'll post a pic tomorrow.

Mine has the gap at the mid point.

my sargent looks the same.

That is normal for my bike and seat..... My stock seat fit about the same.... I wondered about it at 1st but after doing an in depth check, everything was hooking up...... ( try pulling up on the seat where the two mid hooks live), if it isn't moving it's just the shape of the seat pan(or the bikes tail plastic)..... After many months of seeing a shrink, I've learned to live with it :dry: ..... On a side note I do believe they actually wanted to leave some space so when you hang a helmet from the helmet hooks under the seat, there'd be room for the straps (that's how I learned to live with it)....... Don't know that, just a guess.....

Glad I saw this thread - I thought I was doing something wrong when I put my seat on... This is exactly how mine looks, while it does ping my OCD side, I can live with it if it's how the seat was designed:)

Update on the seat gap..... I did another type of check while riding.... The seat fits real close to the plastic with my fat --s on it, but it isn't touching.... So my guess is that it was made to fit so when weight is on it, it won't rub on the plastic....

It seems to me that the Corbin doesn't fit as tight against the body as the stock. At least, that's the impression mine gives me. But I didn't whip out the calipers and measure it.

Gotta compare apples to apples. The 2nd Corbin seat pic is on the left side of the bike. The RH has a gap for the helmet hooks - this is how it should be. I'm surprised noone else has chimed in with this.... anyway, completely normal. My Sargeant is the same way.
