I have been keeping an eye out for some good deals on a 6th gen. I found a shop up in Denver that has a 2004 VFR800 in Asphalt Black with about 5100 miles.

Blue Book is $5975 and they are asking $5999 out the door.

What do you think?? Good price??

Thanks,
Dan

I would look for other deals. Specifically a 2006+.
It has the new mapping for the vtec transition and can be had for less with higher mileage.

Blue Book means nothing these days. It's a buyer's market.

You can buy my 06' bass boat black with 4000 miles and new pp2's for 6500.

Thanks, but I have no way of getting it across the country and no time to do it.

This is one of the reasons I am only looking local. I don't get that much time to ride (except to work) and have no time to work on the bike either. My 93 keeps breaking down evertime I try to go ride lately (working on it when I can), so I am just looking for something newer that *should* require less work.

I think you can do better. I bought my '04 two years ago for $5000. It only had 634 miles on it. There are new '07 leftovers on eBay for $6995. (Of course, that is not OTD.)

I just paid $6999 OTD for my 07 w/ABS last month. But I bought it out of state, so when I registered here in CT, I had to pay taxes. But it was still a damn fine deal.

Some of those "leftover" '07's can be had out the door for less if you find a hungry enough dealer, and you're a shrewd negotiator. They're still available. Prolly the new bike value deal of the decade.

Ditto for me ('cept mines the right color ;) ) - same price + tax...

Also just found out that is the ABS version.

Would it be a good deal at $5500?

I know the 06+ are better because of the VTEC map, but what else is different?

I am still on the fence about getting a new O7, or a used one. I just can't really afford the extra money for the 07. (Closest one to me is $7499 +tax (~$550)), so the price difference is about $2500.

Going into winter, I'd tell em to call you when they'll take $5K otd.
They will need floor space for the 2010's

Your 93 8-spoke will look nice on the 04.

I would tell them you can get a 07 w/ABS for OTD $6999, don't tell them where! Then offer them $4500 OTD for theirs if they throw in a 3 yr extended warranty!
I'm serious!

They probably have less than $4k in it as Clean Trade is $4100 and Fair Trade is only $3325.
Ask them how long they have had it on the floor, then say I'll come back in next spring and give you $4000 then after they sit on it for 4 months.

No one is knocking down the door for bikes at the beginning of Winter and they know that, but they know theres a sucker born every minute. Don't be that sucker!

Tell them $4500 and walk out the door, leave you number and tell them to call you when there ready to take your $4500.
Worst case after that is you agree to $5k out the door(OTD) in the next week or two. :fing02:

BR

btw why pay that much for a model they didn't even bother to paint, primer black! :goofy:

Not yet. Still trying to decide. Best price they will do is $5200 OTD. I am going to make my decision sometime this weekend, and probably at least go up and look at it next weekend.

asphalt black. Good deal at twice the price.

I had a coworker that was going to sell me his Asphalt 04 for $4500 with 5k miles totaly stock garage kept and in perfect condition. But that was friend to friend. He ended up selling it to another member on this forum for $5000.

That is total crap. If they told you $5200, that means they'll let it go for far less ($4500 maybe). Winter is almost here.....nobody else is going to buy the thing until spring at best. Offer $4500 and leave your phone number....you'll get a call before the new year.

I second my own post! :goofy:

Offer $4500 OTD and leave you number. Did you see where a member picked up a leftover 08 w/abs for less that $7k.!
Take your time! :fing02:

RxCritical: new 08 with ABS Saturday!
Got a great deal from a dealer in Chattanooga.
Can you believe $6683 plus TTL?

Yeah....sorry BR, didn't notice that. You're absolutely right though.

I did offer $4500 OTD and that was what they came back with. They bought it for $4600 and don't mind it taking up the space apparently. It is kind of stuck back in a corner and REALLY dusty!!!

The more I think about it, the more I think I will just keep looking....

I think looking for a new bike is almost as fun as buying......almost.
