A question for those of you in Arizona. I would like to come out to Arizona in mid March and do some riding. Do you think mid March is too early to plan on riding the Coronado Trail? Too much chance of snow or ice? What about Mt Lemmon?

For mt. lemmon you most likely would not have any problem. But I could say the same for January, as long as you can deal with cold because the days with snow on the road is very small. That being said it has snowed in Tucson on Easter before. Riding the 191 is another story. Much more likely to have poor road conditions. I've been snowed on in Alpine in May - I was driving and it was not sticking on the road but... In March there is a 95% chance you'd be fine for mt. lemmon and 50% chance for the 191. There are some good roads in western NM as well. Maybe because I have been up mt. lemmon so often by car, motorcycle, bike but usually there is too much traffic to make it an enjoyable ride on motorcycle. During the week its not bad though.
Gotta go with swimmer on this one, Tucson is 2500' at the airport, heres what the weather was 3/15/09 now take away 30-35 degrees for the mountain elevations

Since you asked about Mount Lemmon I assume you will be in Tucson? If so let me know when you get in and we'll show you some "interesting" local roads

Wasn't there a Memorial day ride last May that was scrubbed due to snow on the 191?
Speaking of snow on 191, I rode it in late August '06, and it was 42 degrees & wet at 3pm with snow expected later that night! August!!
