VFR1200 Price

I just talked to a dealer that I trust. He said the base price on the new vfr is $15999. They haven't announced the price for the options yet.

and thats all I got to say about that.

Looks like I will be hanging on to my 6th gen for a long time.

That's about 3,000 more than the current bike here in Canada - list price anyway.

Stickin' with my plan to ride the current bike until the end of the 7th gen model run and pick up a leftover new one at huge discount. :beer: Worked for me on this one, should work again...

The rags said mid December Honda will officially announce the price.

It'll be close to 20 grand in Canada. I know I'll be watching the exchange rate closely.

The price was shown on the bike at the San Mateo bike show (pics of the MSRP posted on here already). That seems pretty official. Unless they (honda) have been watching the internet forums over the last week and how people have been responding - negatively.

More than a BMW or Ducati? Wow, Honda must really be confident or they are dreaming. I think I will grab the latest 6th generation I can find when I'm ready to upgrade.

For that kind of loot it had better be thr best honda EVER! I'll watch for the reviews.

Be careful what you wish for. If sales are poor Honda may decide to pull the plug on importing it to the US market (VFR's have never been a big seller in the US to begin with) and stick with the Euro market where this will be a big seller, after all it was designed by Europeans. Those of us who do buy will likely hang on to it for a long time, therefore the used market for the VFR will be thin to non-existent. By then your opportunity to get the most state of the art motorcycle will have evaporated.
Ever wonder why Europe gets all the "good stuff", bikes which never see the light of day in the US? This is why.

Add in another grand for hard saddle bags, another grand for ABS, another grand for cruise control and centerstand, 8% sales tax, etc. and you've now got a bike pushing $21,000. If I had my choice between that and "plain" but new RWB for $8k, it's a no-brainer. I don't care if the 1200 would smoke it, it's still a no-brainer.

that is exactly what i thought. the dealer was trying to talk me into waiting for the 1200 when i ordered the RWB. I figured for less than half the price i was getting more than half the bike :fing02: and i could afford to throw factory hard bags on it or go with a givi setup. seemed like a no-brainer to me :idea3:

I agree - let's hope they sell well so that in a year or two we can pick them up for a reasonable price.

I was quoted 14,999 for a 6mt with base options

Although I have yet to test one, I agree with what the review in the Feb issue of "Bike" said: "... the VFR1200 is a good bike with a unique engine, distinct styling and magnificent Honda suspension and build quality. But it's also underwhelming - there's nothing spicy, nothing to tempt people away from better-equipped bikes."
I think Honda have created a bike which is aimed to compete with the BMW, and it's ended up priced accordingly.

I am interested in the VFR1200 to go next to my 86 750. Every article I read they love the bike. They all just wish it had a bigger tank

May be an opportunity here for an ambitious entrepreneur to manufacture or modify some existing five and one-half or six gallon tank for the VFR1200. Must be a way to do it. Posted Image
