New VFR Pics - Calgary Motorcycle Show

After seeing the bike in person I'm even more impressed. It's has been stunningly put together both in appearance and quality. It's a shame it's not on true display for riders to touch and sit on it.
Well worth the price of admission. As is the new supersport BMW. Really nice bike and seems rather small for 1000cc - it felt really cramped to me - high peg height and low bars. Nice to look at though.

Thanks .....you have to wonder why we could sit on the 1200 in Long Beach?????

I know. In Seattle people were sitting on it too.
The Honda rep. said it was because the bike didn't have a proper clear coat on it - since it is a prototype.
After being to several shows he said it was starting to 'get scratched.' Fair enough.
It is actually quite a bit smaller than I thought it would be from the pics online. It's roughly the same as a 6th gen and way, way smaller than the BMW K touring bikes.

One of the Honda sales guys there was a total dipshit. Didn't catch his name... curly dark hair, bald on top, glasses...

I heard him trying to tell a guy that the rear cylinders were a smaller displacement than the front which magically made it balance out, and that it had 175hp at the wheel.

Riiiiight... I guess it was starting to 'get scratched' here in Dallas in November, and then it got unscratched for the west coast, and then it started to get scratched again... :rolleyes:

Looks like they moved the lock cylinder for the seat release to directly under the tail light...different.

The bike that's running the show circuit in Canada isn't the same bike that is circulating in the USA.

Hey Mike,

I looked for you at the show, to bad we missed each other. Both my son and myself did Not like it. I am sorry guys but I just don't like it and even more so after seeing it in person.
The owner of Rocky Mountain power sport told me to contact him in mid may and he would let me know if it will be included for demo rides at a event they are having the first part of June.

He thought it would be a good idea if I could get as many VFRD members to come to it if the 1200 is there for rides.

We didn't stick around long. We saw the Honda booth, the VFR, BMW, Victory and a few others then split.
It's basically the same shtick every year. Not many new bikes this year either.
I'll definitely contact Rocky Mountain Powersports in the spring for a ride. If they gave me a reasonable trade-in on my bike I'd considering buying a new one.

Well that may be, but it doesn't make me feel any better: they still had the US bike on a pedestal here and then took it off, later in the circuit. Bummer for us, and for Calgary...

I should be getting a ride on one in Spring... a friend of a very good friend is having one lent to him by the local Honda Rep for three day's worth of test rides... Woo hoo!!!

Well I gotta say something has clicked in my brain this last few days because I am suddenly really liking the look of this new VFR (I never did say its ugly)... and yes I said VFR :rolleyes: :wheel:
