What to do Next?

Last April I was able to get my New 2007 VFR 25th Anniversary. I had ambitions of riding it home that day from the dealer. But, unfortunately mother nature had a different idea and it rained the whole way there and the whole way back. Also, I have not splurged on getting rain gear. So it go wet and rode grime everywhere. Yesterday, I decided that I would get a head start on some spring cleaning. I took the sides off and the front deflector. It has been a while since doing that the last time on the 2003 that I had years agon.. I forgot how much I hate those damn body clips. Anyways, I am about to get cleaning on this thing but thought to myself I better check in with the guys and girls here and see if there is anything that I need to do to check or add or fix since the sides are off. Is there any adjustments that can be made? I did the throttle slack after the first week of having it. Thanks for the advise.

If you have a torque wrench and a service manual, you can check all your major fasteners. I've done a few 600 mile services and found some fasteners that weren't up to spec.

Check your radiator level and resevoir when the fairings are off. A good cleaning allows for a thorough check over.

You might want to go ahead and change the oil.

Brake fluid and fork oil change?

I haven't read my manual yet to check the service intervals but with my Kat it was every 24K kms or 2 years. I know that's what I'll be doing on my 06 once it warms up enough to not freeze my fingers off in the garage. It's only got 4K miles on it so I figure it's never been done.

Grease all electrical connections with El. grease.

Run it and note the subtle change in tone without fairings. :goofy:

I would flush out the old brake and clutch fluid with new, I like ATE Super Blue since it's easy to tell when you've done a complete fluid flush, and then they have a "normal brown color" version as well. Very good DOT 4 stuff. I would also drain and re-fill the cooling system with Honda coolant, I used pre-mixed, and tossed in a little Redline Water Wetter although I don't know if that stuff is very effective. These bikes are kind of hard on coolant so I plan on doing this once a year like the brake & clutch fluids.

Check all electrical connectors & apply some dielectric grease as noted above, and hit the fasteners with a torque wrench after checking the manual for the proper specs. Tire air pressures, clean and lube the chain, check all lights for proper operation. That's all I can think of for now.

+1 had a radiator clamp loose and leaking.

That is probably why I smell coolant/antifreeze when I stop my bike. I think I will check that soon.
