VFR1200F Service Manual

Since we just got the 2010 VFR1200F service manual for our shop, and the sales manager as yet has no plans to order one, our service manager is allowing me to bring the manual home to peruse. If anyone has any questions that can normally be found in the manuals, I would be more than happy to find the answers. If I had the ability to scan it, I'd post the whole thing, but then again, it is about 1 1/2" thick. Figure I can keep it about a week for now; after that, I'll have to look while at work.

Someone asked about how the linked brakes are linked yesterday.

I'd like to know what the service intervals are for motor and drivetrain. And how the fairings are attached. :fing02:

Maybe you could take some pictures of the more relevant pages, and post those?

+1 about the fairings. It would be nice to know how long one could expect to take for an oil change. Although quite honestly I doubt one of these will ever be in my future.

+1, I'm sure there's enough interest here to fund a trip to Staples or some-such store for you?

I'll have to call my dealer up and get a hold of one.

I'm particularly interested in the sealed crankcase system.

Would you mind sharing the part number for the manual? My dealer is having a hard time getting hold of one.

They actually give you the option of ordering one or not? They always sent us a new one as soon as the last sold. We have to keep a minimum of 1 of everything in stock at all times. ( Excluding watercraft because we are a multi-dealer and they won't let us carry them, or order parts, not even a simple spark plug for them )

Ok, I feel like an idiot :blush: . Got distracted while closing up the shop and ended up leaving through a different door than normal, leaving the manual sitting next to my tool box. Have already written a note to myself to put it in the truck first thing in the morning.

I may end up having the ability to scan a few pages at a time (borrowed scanner), so will have to see how that works out. If all else fails, I can certainly take pictures of the needed pages.

Our manuals are shipped to us as soon as they are released. Hopefully, the part number will be somewhere on the manual.

We are strictly a Honda dealer, so I'm not sure of the differences in ordering requirements. We didn't even have a VFR on the floor till I talked the sales manager into getting one two years ago (unfortunately, that '07 RWB is still sitting on the floor, so I don't think he'll listen to any further suggestions I give on what models we need) At least I wasn't the one who suggested getting EIGHT (8) CRF230M's that we haven't even sold one of in a year and a half. And don't get me started on watercraft - have five of them to assemble next week for a boat show later this month.

Anyway, I promise not to forget the manual again, and will try to get everything sorted out tomorrow (as far as answering questions). I also need to learn how to post multiple quotes.

we could always take up a collection, buy one and cut it up so that it can be scanned

+1 TO THAT AND I WOULD CHIP IN FOR A SCAN COPY.

Ok, I now have the manual at home and will be picking up the scanner tonight after work. Hopefully, I'll be able to start scanning tomorrow.

I've often asked why Honda doesn't have their service manuals on CD (they do have them online through their interactive network - in.honda.com), but have never gotten a decent answer. It's always been, "I don't know."

U have considered your boss/Honda would mind you copying and re-distributing? :unsure:

I'm pretty sure Honda Australia has all their service manuals on CD. Maybe it's just the US guys not bothering to burn them to disk?

I hadn't considered that aspect, but on thinking about it, it probably wouldn't be in my best interest (jobwise) to scan and re-distribute the whole manual, as it isn't mine. That said, my dealer has never had a problem copying a page or two for a customer, so...

The brakes are linked as follows: Front lever to ABS Modulator to all three pistons on front right caliper and bottom two pistons on front left caliper. Rear pedal to ABS Modulator, line splits - one goes to a delay valve and on to top piston of front left caliper, the other goes to both rear pistons.

Manual part number is: 61MGE00

Does the manual list the weight of the engine for my records???

Engine dry weight is listed as 88.8 kg (195.8 lbs).

It only appears that way because of the stacked transmission shafts and deep oil sump.


I'm glad they've made the final drive serviceable.
