I actually had her out at Phillip Island racetrack yesterday, and had a ball. I love my '02 - if I could just get an ABS model I'd be stoked. I could then transfer all my farkles over to that from my '02 and keep her as a parts bike or track pig. Hmmmm.
I have seen one on the UK roads so far, it's kinda nice to now have a 'next bike' option for me, I guess it will finally stop me changing my 800 for another 800 every five minutes :laugh:

Well the USA market is very different market than Europe or Australia. A smaller percentage of people ride in the USA - and of those that do ride, there are more cruisers per 100 riders than anywhere else in the world!
Having said that, the comment about it mostly being squids on 600's is true everywhere.
What I find amazing about all that is that those sales represent sales in the dead of what has been one of Britain's coldest Winters!! I mean, what the hell??????

Absolutely, on Sunday there were bikers everywhere, kinda annoying in one sense having ridden all the long winter I feel I should have these roads all to myself now :rolleyes:
The temp was only sturggling at 2-3c too, gotta love heated kit.

Actually that may be about to change - the latest Australian Motorcycle News has some sales figures that show that in the last year (I think), around 90,000 bikes were sold in the UK, and around 85,000 in Australia - and the gap is closing. Given that they have 61 million people and we have 21 million people, I'd say we are probably more into it than them...

I can't argue with how "into it" folks are here (including myself) - heck my father is a freakin' pillar of the MC community in Victoria - but I wonder which country rides their bikes more? There are many, many weekend warriors in Australia. Just judging by the guys on 'Busas and Desmosedici RR's I was lapping at the island on my VFR says a lot about skill and experience for most riders.
A mass of bikers zipping around in 2 degree weather? Not likely to happen in Australia, we're not used to the wet!

I mean gas tank may not be that much of an issue in Europe - It's quite a bit smaller than the US. Australia is another story though.

Seems that way, I'd like to ride one, but only after I have enough saved to buy one. What happens if I really like it? That could cause hard feelings between me and my 2004 and we've had nothing but good times so far. I must resist. :wheel:
My guess is the sales are coming from the fact that it's a new model, when looking at other bikes why buy a 2010 at sticker when you can buy an 08-09 with rebates for the same bike, with the 1200 you don't have that option.
I'd say in the US the cruisers hold more than half the market share, there's alot of riders that insist on riding with a constipated look on their face :pissed: that only looks cool on cruisers. :owned: I used to own a cruiser but could only ride it for 30min's at a time cause my face muscles would get sore trying to look like a bad ass, that and the pipes would give me a headache...what did you say? speak up I can't hear you.
on a side note it's day 2 of the riding season for me:woohoo: too bad the weather's going to turn, at least it'll give me time to do my -1/+2 sprocket change.

Based upon what I've read about the Ducati Multistrada 1200 Tour, it seems to be just about everything the Honda VFR1200 should have been, but isn't (IMHO). Same price, too, and I believe a 15,000 mile service cycle now. Where am I going wrong? Posted Image
