Stopped by my local dealer today to sit on the new VFR, since they finally got one in. I love this bike. If I had $20k lying around, I'd buy it, but DAMN, that's a lot of money. Also, it weighs 613 lbs wet, which is quite an increase. I'd still buy it if I had money to burn, but Dayum.
Guess I'll just stick with my dialed-in 5th gen. I went for a 200 miles ride today, and I must say, I love it. But I do have a wandering eye, and it was only last week that I was lusting over some Blackbirds. Then I started thinking about the Toro supercharger.

Yeah, I sat on one today here in Houston. It's OK but it sure the hell isn't $20k OK. I'll keep my paid for yeller '00 thank you very much.
dont get me wrong I dont want a replacement for my 5th gen as it is perfect for me, but I do desperately want a 1200. But 19,000 is just way, WAY too much money.

So the dealers are marking them up from the 15,999 list price?
List price is $15,999, plus about $1-1.5K in dealer costs (assembly and whatever else they want to tack on), plus license and doc fees adds up to somewhere between $19-20K according to the sales guy.
Don't know how some of you guys are getting them for so "cheap."

I got mine OTD for just under $15000 :woohoo:
What where you wearing?!
How did you manage that?? Was the dealer worried it would sit on his floor? What was the sale price minus taxes, license, etc. if I may ask? BTW, congrats on the new bike, I hope to have a DCT in early summer.
I guess there will come a time when we will regard these prices as quite "normal". And I suppose that we should also remind ourselves that all VFR's were expensive compared to other bikes when they first came out as well. However, as stated by others, I regard $A26 to be WAY too expensive. For that price I could have a track bike, a well-sorted VFR and a dirt/play bike as well, and still have some change; all a matter of persepctive and how deep your pockets are, I suppose.
I like the new 1200 - but if I'm spending 20 grand it'll be on this gal right here... Yep, that beak is butt-ugly, but 4-ish bikes in one for the same money...

Mine was simple. Walked up. Said I wanted the bike. They told me I could have it for the low 14,000 plus taxes. No haggling. Done deal. Did they regret giving it to me for that price with the look on my face? You betcha! Couldn't hand them my keys to the VFR800 fast enough.

If I had the scratch, I'd get the Multistrada 1200 touring version in a minute. Beautiful bike, and nothing but good reviews so far.
