Looks much better than the OEM, IMO.
Funny how the sport bike muffler evolved all the way to being mostly underseat designs just a few years ago, only to fall back to where it all began, with the low mount single pipe at the right side. I wonder what happened to all all those complaints from many years ago about low mount mufflers dragging too much in turns. Are these new humongous mufflers immune from draging in turns with their big sectional shapes??

Beck
95 VFR
Funny that you mention this Beck as I think the VFR1200 would look SOOOOOOOOOOOO much better with an underseat design like we have on the current 6G. While I like the front end of my 5G, the tail of the 6G is BY FAR my favorite ass on a VFR.
If life were to so easy as to always get what you want, I'd suggest the VFR1200 to go with a 6G rear and a bag mount system copied from the BMW K12/13S bikes as I love that mounting system. Instead, the mounting system for bags that they used IS a copy of prior BMW models. The VFR1200 luggage mounting is almost identical in execution to what BMW used on prior K1200RS and K1200GT bikes circa 1998-2004 of which I owned. It has yet to be seen if this style mount will be an issue at high speed, but I personally know of multiple folks who lost bags while traveling excessive speeds on the K1200RS.

Nice. But I agree with others that an underseat exhaust would look killer on this bike. I've often thought about exchanging the subframe on my 5th gen with that of a 6th, but reconsidered after thinking about what that would entail. I'm not much of a chopper. 6th gen butt is nice.

Another Option....Laser
The Akro and Laser both look good, the bigger issue for me is the compatibility with the bags. Personal preference, I don't like the exhaust in the lower position where it needs to be to work with the bags. In the high position I think it looks nice.
Why is it that they didn't do an underseat with a 4 into 4 rear end like MV again? :goofy:

Hmmmm yeah, both the Laser and the Aki look sooo much better
and I may just be used to the twin pipes on my gen 6, and I
know those Youtube recordings are approximate at best but..... sewing machine noise anyone? :musik20:

Here's one by Devil....I kinda like this one....
Devil can (as well as the Akra) look really good in the HIGH position. :fing02: Issue is that I doubt the hard bags would work with either in the HIGH position. The pipes in the LOW position with the bags off looks like crap. :pissed:

i am with you....low sucks on ALL of them. high is ok, but no bags....undertail would be the best IMHO...of course, i cant afford the bike, so my opinion really doesn't matter :)
Is the low and highish version the same pipe just rotated? If so it would be fairly easy to rotate pipe up for no bags, then back down when you put bags on. However I agree for a bike with factory bags, underseat or belly exhaust should be a must.
The dealer i bought the bike from will be getting a Bos Carbon in next week and i will be having a look at it. By all accounts it fit in low and high positions. Oh, and a claimed 13 bhp boost..
Looks great!! Couple of questions...Are you happy with the sound? Have you noticed any low RPM torque difference after disengaging the flapper from the OEM Muffler? Congrats! I may have to look into this one as well.

The FJR has a similar side bag mount system, any issues with FJR's losing bags at speed?
aghhh none of that lot is 'doing it' for me at all. The can has to look more consistent with the rest of the bikes futuristic design. I can understand why Honda did what they did with the exhaust but it just needs to be different and less bulky. But hey hang on, I won't be getting a 1200 either so my opinion isn't really important too lol
Gotta say though, this 1200 ain't exactly pretty is it. Some angles it looks good, but side on yukky

There have been a few reports of people losing bags from FJRs, but the consensus is that this was due to use error, most likely improper engagement of the bottom mounting point.
I don't sweat it. I rarely take the bags off my FJR. When touring, the bags stay on the bike and I just take the liners with me into the hotel. On those rare occasions when I do take the bags off an then re-install them, I pay extra attention to make sure they are properly engaged at all the mounting points.

To be fair, I probably should not have classified this as an "issue", but rather something to be aware of. It was not an epidemic, but did in fact happen enough to take note. I believe that most folks that lost them had them come off at 120+ mph so it may not be an issue for most. In the end several folks modified the bag/mount with a small hole drilled through the bags mount where it joined with the footpeg mount and through to the other side. It seems that the folks having issues believed it due to the bag bouncing off the forward lower mounting place if a bump was hit at those speeds. Essentially a retaining clip was placed through the hole and that ended the issues working as a "safety".
Sorry, I just intended this as an FYI. While I've recently sold my K1200S, I have to say that I liked their bag mount setup MUCH better and would have liked to see Honda copy that setup instead.

I still think the under belly exhaust somebody photochopped up looks the best... now if someone would make it
Yeah, all you 1200 guys should hound Taylormade about that sexy lookin thing!!
I have the Taylormade on my 08 CBR1000RR. I spent a couple days on the phone with Paul Taylor due to some issues with my bike. He was AWESOME to deal with. Have had no problems with it since.
As soon as I saw this thread I sent a note to Paul to see what he could do.
The exhaust on my CBR is the best looking exhaust setup I have seen on any bike. Since the new VFR looks like the CBR's big brother, it makes sense to me for him to do a similar setup.

I have a Two Brothers exhaust on my VFR as well. TBR is by far the best sound I have heard on any Honda IMO. Have had Yoshi, VH, Micron....all sub-par if you ask me. TBR has the throaty, deep mean roar....makes any other pipe I've used (or heard) sound like a fart pipe.

Two Brothers all the way...
TBR is junk. I bought one for my 04 1000RR and had to send it back because it wouldn't fit. They welded the flange onto the mid-pipe backwards.
Why do you think they're the first to market with a pipe for every new bike? I think I know why.... zero development and testing. They seem to just take a cheap chunk of stainless, bend it into a shape that halfway fits and attach a generic can to the end.
