I had such high hopes for the Starcom intercom system..... I got mine in the mail a couple days ago and after getting it all hooked up, it looks like the little bugger is defective. Just wondering if anyone else has ran into the following problem.

I didn't want to have the Starcom under my seat, so I've got it in my tankbag. My tankbag is set up with two cigarette lighter power plugs...so when I ordered the Starcom unit, I also ordered the 'alternative power cord' so the Starcom will run off the cig. lighter rather than being hard-wired to the battery.

Anyways.....from the get-go it looked like the power cord was very loose in the intercom's power-in socket...so loose that if I hold the intercom up in the air, the power cord will just fall out of it...the cord rattles around when plugged in and I had to tape the cord in place tight to the intercom in order to get consistent power to the unit. I didn't try wiring up the intercom using the direct-to-the-battery wiring, but that plug did fit in a little more snugly, though it still wobbles aorund in the socket a lot.

Anyone else out there using a Starcom that is powered off their cigarette plug type power cord? Any problems with the cord/socket being loose? Does your power cord plug in securely and stay put?

I bought it through RiderWearhouse, and will be mailing the intercom and cord back to them later today....just hoping the replacement I get doesn't have an gremlins.
