Hi, I'm new to the forum (this is my first post). Currently a ZZR1400 owner which I really like. Completed 22,000 miles in 26 months, mainly 2-up touring in Europe. Now looking to change and about to bite the bullet with VFR1200. I've tried both the manual and DCT version and decided to go for the manual. My wife/pillion absolutely loves the bike from the extended tests we've had....amd that noise over 6k revs!!!!!! Anyway just a couple of quick questions which I was hoping to get to get the views of existing owners on:
1) what honda accessotries would you recommend i purchase with the bike?
2) what after market accessories have you added?
3) i want to add auxillary poweer to feed the sat nav and recharge the mobile etc. The honda accessories catalogue refres to a quartet harness. How are you guys powering accessories? What is tghis harness?
4) How are yoiu finding the luggage? I currently use GIvi V35's on teh ZZR and the honda ones look somewhat fragile/small.
Any other info you think i might find usefull.
My current bike.

They forgot to include a real gas tank, so you may want to look into adding one (J/K!). Congratulations on your new ride. Your wife has good tastes in motorcycles (men, not so much). Again, J/K!
Hi. Had mine for a couple of months now. Got 1300 miles on it and it still impresses. Love the balance, the handling and the way the V4 does it's thing. From stock i had the heated grips (which need the quartet harness to fit) and they are very slim and you can cook eggs with them. I also went for the center stand and the luggage rack. I've recently had the touring screen, which, while a tad noisier than stock, seems to do it's job. I haven't had the 12v socket, which i believe plugs into the quartet harness and lives under the seat, but i might get one soon. The after market has been fairly slow, i think Baglux make a tank bag, but other than a few exhausts, it's a bit quiet. Skidmarx are working on a hugger, R&G make one, but some owners report deformation issues. The Honda OE one is pricey and of average quality. The OE luggage is supposed to be good quality, but expensive and small. I used the OE luggage rack (which is a sturdy well made unit with large access handles for the pillion) and bodged a Givi universal plate onto. This fits my E52. As i have no touring planned this year, i've since removed it. A 5 minute job, and easy to refit.
The bike has performed superbly. There was the much publicised recall, but mine avoided the cull. I can get about 150 miles before my bottle goes and i have to fill up. I use 98 ron and it seems to run smoothly. The only mod i have done so far is to disconnect the flapper valve in the exhaust, which gives a more gruff note at idle. Reports state that is smoothes the running at low Revs. I'll report back on that as i only did it last night.
You may want to have a look here. Lots of feedback from a fair few owners. The vast majority seem very happy.

All the best.
