Compared to my last 2 hondas, this kick stand seems to be very "lazy" . It doesn't snap up with much authority. And a few times it actually got stuck halfway up.

Haven't played with it enough yet to notice, but if it continues to hang up you can get a slightly shorter spring at a hardware/farm supply store.
Or just use some nips and pliers to take a couple loops out of yours and bend a new hook on the end.
I haven't tried the 7gen, but check to see if the bolt that holds the sidestand on isn' to tight........
Might just need some lube.....
