So I torqued up my header nuts too much, and of course snapped the stud in 2. Anyone thats been through this: do you know the correct stud size so I can buy the replacement? I think its part #20 on the Cylinder Head (Fr) diagram, but it seems there's only 2 per head in the diagram (supposed to be 4), so can someone confirm what stud is needed? BTW 86 VFR700F. Thanks for the help..

I wish you had done that before I sent the filter out to ya, I could have dropped one in the box. They're cheap enough though, only $1 or so at the dealer. Just bought some for a different bike.

Yes, it's #20. The third column from the right, in the parts fiche, tells you how many pcs required.

In this case, (4).

Be careful removing the broken off stud, on my '82 V45 Sabre, I had done the same thing on the rear & had an ez out in the broken stud & while turning snapped off the collar, so I had to replace the rear head that cost about $300 1995ish.

Good Luck

Thanks Seb. Thanks for the tip V-Fore. I was planning on doing the torch heat/cool, heat/cool method and back it out with some vice grips and PB Blaster. Anyone have some good insight on the best way to back out these broken studs?
