Who hates their seat

I have a Corbin seat on order for my VFRF but, it is still not here yet and I am going riding in a little while with that damned plank Honda supplied.
The seat makes me slide forward and crush my nuts on the tank when I am flipping her through the twisties.
Honda claims the seat is state of the art but, my nuts claim something different.
How do you all feel about the stock seat?

Might try one of these, cheaper than a Corbin seat.

I love the way it looks, and at first I thought it was gonna suffice but nope it was too flat and my butt started getting sore too soon -

I took the first option... love it.

The high pegs cramp my knees a bit and the bars are a long reach for me (5'9") but the seat is great. I've spent an entire day in it and didn't have a problem.

I just got back from a couple hour ride and my ass is killing me, I can't wait for my new Corbin to get here this week.

make sure you update on the corbin please

Its never been the nuts, but the inner thighs cut into the hard lines and the seat itself is not very supportive. You can build up the front of the seat with some foam and a top coat.

The seat definitely isn't the best. It slides me forward and if you don't have the junk stashed right it gets caught under, not very comfprtable. Even if you don't though it is still rough after a few hours on the inner thighs. I also took a decent ride with the wife onboard and since I couldn't slide back as far as I like I was really pushed toward the tank. I don't know why they had to slope the seat like they did. Let us know if the Corbin makes it better. I heard teh Sergeant is good but some complained it sloped just like the stock but was wider and cushier.

I have issue with balls getting pinched, I always lube them to stay slippery , it really works !!!!!!!!! LOL

One of the "upgrades" done to the VFR1200F seat was molding the vinyl right to the foam of the seat, there is no altering it without destroying it.
The seat works good for canyon riding and sliding around the seat to shift weight but, I slide too far forward on heavy braking and boom goes my huevos.

I will of course post pics of the Corbin as soon as I get it and give a full review after break in.

I have logged over 3100 miles on the bike so far and have to say it is one of the better seats I have experienced. Only thing I would like is a compartment to store stuff where the passenger part is. On Tuesday was riding the SW roads of Wisconsin. We started riding at about 8 A.M. I started my ride back to Ohio about 2:30 in the afternoon. I rode until 10:30 at night before stopping for the night. Have to say overall Honda did a good job on the seat. If Corbin or sergeant makes a modular seat would probably consider it simply for the storage space.

I see we have an individual that likes to vote for hookers, that makes me smile. :laughing6-hehe:

Rode from lacrosse, wi to plymouth,ind on my way back to ohio. Stopped only for fuel and fluid. Left the hotel 8 A.M. to ride the roads in lacrosse several more times before heading home. Started heading back to ohio at 2:30pm and rode to 10:30pm. Now I am still waiting for a sargent or corbin with the smuggler or modular back part but overall the stock seat is pretty damn good. Definitely better then the beemers I have had in the past.

I traded a few emails with the Sargent R&D department and they said they're not even CONSIDERING making one right now because there has been little to no interest (e.g., contact from potential customers, feedback @ events, etc.). If you want something along the lines of a Sargent WSS seat, I suggest you write to them and ask. You can address your letter to Mary Pestalitz using the email address of mary@sargentcycle.com. She also told me I (you) can call the owner and he'll be happy to talk to you (I accidentally deleted the email with his name and phone number in it).

You all should be greatful that your any generation VFR does not have a seat like my 71 CL350K-3 Scrambler does.
They just had no clue about seats 40 years ago.

If you weigh more than about 150 lbs. the stock foam/shape is overtaxed. I can't stay on the stocker more than about an hour at a go without monkey butt setting in (weigh 230 lbs.). The 'state of the art' claim is simply more marketing swill to fill copy in the sales description.

Oops, I was talking about the 6th gen seat above. It's a different animal, but I still hate it. No experience on the 7th gen, but, hey, it's supposed to be "state of the art!" :biggrin:

210lbs, 36" inseam legs, I am not an average size man and don't fit the seat like an average sized 150lb 5'9" individual would.
There is one lesson that Honda did not learn, to accommodate every size rider from the friggin 4'10" Napoleon syndrome biker to the 7' tall monster biker.

I could not believe Sargent's attitude about the 1200.

I love the stocker for dashing up and down the canyons. Droning along on the slab for more than a 100 miles and it gets uncomfortable. I had Rocky Mayer make me a new seat and as far as comfort goes it's tits, but, it isn't all that great for blitzing the Santa Monica Mountains. Changes the ergonomics. The seat is taller so my knees don't have issues as with the stocker but it makes you sit up higher so your feeling perched on the bike rather than, more or less, in the bike as with the stocker. So, what did I do? I bought another stock seat and now I switch 'em depending on what type of riding I'm gonna be doing.

My Corbin just got here 5 minutes ago and is on the bike now.
It sure feels nice sitting on it compared to the stock plank.

I think the stock seat is "ok". I am 5'6" 160lbs.
I have hemmed and hawed for a while about whether to get a Sargent or Corbin. Heard crappy things about the Corbin as far as fit & finish, comfortability, and poor cust. service.

You can call up and speak to Mike Corbin himself if you have a problem with your Corbin seat, he will do all in his power to make things right.
I am bringing my CBX's Corbin seat back to Hollister this September to have them recover the seat for me, it is 5 years old and has 26,000 So Cal miles on it. The sun and my not treating her with mink oil at all for the 1st three years I had her has taken it's toll and the leather is showing it's age.

The Corbin seat on my VFR is lower than the stock seat by about 3/4" which helps me somewhat but, I am still too crunched over and will be getting taller clip ons.

I have a typical white guy's non ass, so I need all the help in comfort I can get from my motorcycle seat and Corbin delivered again.
This is my 5th Corbin saddle, I am a loyal Corbin customer.

that seat is WAY plusher/nicer looking than the gunfighter for the 6'th gen viffer.
I thought Corbin was having financial difficulties and was chap 11 or some such nonsense, but regardless SWEET SEAT!!

So far at around 100 miles, the Corbin is absolutely wonderful to sit on.
It works well on the freeway and in the canyons.

I hate my seat (too much slipping and uncomfortable) and I think I will try the "Top Sellerie" model (heated and with gel):

I don't own one but I have sat on one and it wasn't the seat I minded, it was the "twig" portion of my "twig and berries" getting caught between my shoe and the brake pedal....... :laughing6-hehe:

Sargent will refoam (drivers front) and recover with their carbon seat cover for just over $200 clams. To me that is the best deal going!

Just make sure to tell them you want a pocket in the foam if you so desire... my issue was the twig hitting the centrestand :biggrin:

Did you end up buying the Top Sellerie (Top Saddlery) seat, Woks? If so, here are some questions for you:

- how do you like it?
- is it just the cover?
- could you get/keep it stretched tight enough?
- did you simply install it over the existing seat or did you have to go down to the foam?
- is it less slippery?
- does the gel make a difference?

NICE BIKE but the seat reminds of the old CBF-750 seat . Or is it just ME !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I bought an Alaskan Leather sheepskin for my 6'th gen.. I love it, and feel I got a real "bang for my buck".

I bought it last autumn.

I have no idea if the gel make a difference, as I tried the stock only for a few kilometers and as I didn't try the Top Sellerie model without the gel option.

I confirm it is no more slippery and it is a great thing for me!
But it's depend on the coating (I have chosen the SEL003 coating, specially non-skid).

I didn't make anything and it's Top Sellerie who has made the mounting (I don't have the tools to make this, and no experience with this type of mounting, as they make little changes on the foam (right translation?)).

I like this seat because it's a look near from the stock model and the main problem (too slippery) is solved with it.
But I think other models will be more comfortable.

I like the stock seat; it's firm but that's ok with me. :beatdeadhorse:

The texture is the best thing bout the stock seat. Just enough grip on my butt, and easily to slide off to hang off. I hate sticky seats.

It's been a while since I posted in this thread and things have change for me a lot physically being I dropped 27lbs and continue to lose weight too.
I am getting back to the boney ass I was once famous for 30+ years ago and my Corbin is starting to hurt my ass after an hour + in the saddle.
I think I could do a better job of setting the bowl that Corbin did for my non existant ass than they can but, I also need a pair of Heli-Bars to stop me from leaning so far forward.
This getting old thing is really turning serious for me and I am falling apart.
