Using CBR600F (Hurricane) Wheels

I have read and searched and cannot find definite answers to the following questions: :computer-noworky:

• Does the front CBR600F wheel bolt on a 1986 VFR750 without modification?
  
• What is required (if anything) to make the rear CBR600F wheel fit the 1986 VFR750?

I assume that since the Hurricane wheels and the 86 VFR wheels are the same width that little modification is needed but I don't know for sure.

I can find little regarding the Rear Hurricane wheel mod.....it's all about the F2. (which I am not interested in doing)

Hmmm....these are threads and sites I have read and they still do not fully answer my questions.

In one of the threads I read (can't find it now) someone said the front CBR600F wheel still requires spacers to fit the 86 VFR. But I am seeing overwhelming information that the F wheel is just a direct bolt on.
Is it?

Regarding the rear wheel.....I still see nothing describing the swap of a rear CBR600F wheel on to an 86 VFR.
All information regarding rear wheel swaps always refer to the F2 wheel. (for obvious reasons)

Didn't find much on the F1 rear as well. If it were me, I'd trust that the front is a bolt on. The rear can't be too hard. I bet it's close. Couple of spacers is easy. Probably don't even need any sprocket carrier work. Just get them. Once you have them, it forces you to make 'em work!

Using cheapcycleparts.com, I found the 87-90 CBR 600 uses the same speedo gear box, right spacer and axle as the 86 VFR.
This may be a direct swap!

Are you talking about the front?

There is a lot of talk saying the front is a direct swap.

The rear is the big question mark. :comp13: Not a lot of info regarding the rear CBR600F swap.

Yes, I was just looking at the front wheel. Let me see about the rear wheel...

The only common part is the 6204 wheel bearings. Everything else looks to be specific to the CBR F.

I know the Wheel widths are the same. I wonder if the hubs of the 2 wheels are similar too.

I have an old hurricane racebike in my side yard if you need some measurements.

Yes, a pre 90 cbr600F1 front wheel its a straingt fit, had one on my -87. Here a pic of the bike whit it on, stock rear wheel. Brake discs front are NC24 (VFR400)

I cant say for sure, biggest challinge is the small rear brake rotor. A CBF1000F 87-88 rear wheel would be easyer as has same bott patern as the vfr brake disc, and same wheel patern as the Hurricane wheel. Some spacers might be needed. Late of the first CBR1000 had a 4,0 wide rim, erlier a 3,5 wide.
The 88-89 VFR750F (RC24) has 17" wheels, its rear is a strraight fit also to the 86-87, and its also identical in look to the CBR600 Hurricane front.

Yes they are.
The only weard thin is a 110/80-17 (fysically 108-112 mm wide) tire is not as wide fysically as a 110/90-16 tire (usually 115-118 mm wide)
So I desided to stick whit the 16" front in the end. If I still had the bike I would had got a NC24 front wheel to match whit a CBR600F2 rear wheel to get a wider rear tire. But I fell for a 5th gen.....

Or.... you can go crazy and buy my 120/180-17 combo that I started putting on my 700F - CBR600F3 front, 900RR rear. Have matching 500F hub & offset front sprocket, just needs spacers for wheels. Also have a modified 3rd gen countershaft cover so you can run the speedo cable from the cover instead of the front wheel.
