Not to hijack your thread, the other week when changing my oil I noticed that plastic film on the old horn like in your picture and removed it, it seemed to help to sound a little. maybe not louder, but a better sound. :idea3:
I also think that your new horn may work on our 6-gens. Thx for the post.
Not only is the sound different, but it's easy to see that the old horn is a one dog horn, and the new one is a two dog horn.

I like the quiet stockers, the only use I get out of horns are for moving animals off the road sooner.......
I have a horn from an older CBR that is going where that lame POS horn is that Honda put on my VFRF.
I use my horn all the time, I love to piss people off while getting them out of my way.

If you can find a spot to mount them, Gold Wing horns are the way to go!!!
Fitted 2 of this style (FIAMMs) and recall the instructions stating the opening to face downwards..... but if you donot have to room to do so (fab up a wee bracket maybe?..) then fair enough.. :fing02:
Stebel...
I know I'm an old fart, but when I came up you were considered a pussy if you used your horn. Not saying anyone here is a poose, but that's how it was for me. Of course we drove lead sleds with massive bumpers we would use to "nudge" the other driver's rear bumper to get their attention and remind them to get the f*ck out of the left lane on the interstate. Sometimes I miss the old days.

Sometimes I miss the old days.Dale Ernhart Sr. was in the papers for bump drafting a car going up a mountain road to get them to move over, funny stuff.

You are correct, what comes around goes around but, no one has hit a horn at me in a cage since some time back in the early 80s.
There is no reason for anyone to hit their horn at me, I pay 100% attention when I control a vehicle.
Seems the Dog really likes it. I dont use a horn much for traffic, mainly for buzzards.
Defintely louder, but you cant pop any wheelis if horn hits the fender

Is there a problem with mounting a car horn in place of the OEM? I'm no electrical master >> obviously <<. Would it work without setting the bike on fire? or frying electro-bits? Need a relay of some sort?

+1 on the Stebel. I wanna add a second one to my bike!!!California Drivers!!!!
I found a lot of interesting points of view on this thread. Knife, I swear I wish things were more like in the old days. No cell phone drivers, and no gang banger gun toter's. Less traffic and BS. As for the horn it's good to know I can get a more audible horn. I seriously never use mine except in the parking lot if some sack is backing their car into me. Then I do wish it were way louder. I don't recommend being a highway motorcycle troll and annoying cars for enjoyment. It's kind of juvenile isn't it?

I might look into a Stebel horn. There's a great place to put it, under the left front side panel opposite to where the ABS controller is on the other side. Lots of space there.
In reading this thread I was incredulous at finding the PERFECT RIDER/DRIVER. Makes me think of this rider...
