Can it be this difficult?

Just got my bike not too long ago and it was mint. About a month after having it I let someone sit on it (stupid! I know) and the bike tips over gently and the upper right side cowel or fairing gets scraped. Being that the bike was immaculate I now want to replace the mildly scraped one with a new piece (probably sell the other one). I went to remove it today and found it nearly impossible to get to all of the screws. Do i really have to remove the gauge cluster and every other bit of plastic around to get this off? I'm sure that in my haste to remove it I simply overlooked something. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

if I remember right, side mid fairings, mirrors, windshield, inside cowl piece behind wheel (least the button clips)... might be something inside cowl.. hard connection for subassembly? can't remember off-hand. The guages stay put, and the whole top fairing comes off in one piece (lamp assembly comes w/ it.)... don't forget to remove headlight and turnsignal wires as you can access them.

really not as bad as it seams, once you do it one or two times.
