Gap Vids

Who ever said the 6th gen VFR was a slow pig, Well there kinda right. Hope you enjoy.. This may help get a few of you thru the winter. Playing with a Monster (edition) BMW M3 traction control test, Yep it works Playing with a few tourists from Ga. 300 miles on the gap last week and I almost wore outr a brandnew set of pilot powers. Awesome!! I agree with Monk--love to hear the bike! My Vholdr is extremely noisey so my vids have to be edited... I Did the Dragon this past August, what a blast!

That is insane.....! Wonder how many years & runs he made to know it that well. In some of the frames, the camera seems to be at a complete 90 degree angle...... whew. So much for posting my run up........I'd look like a snail...LOL

That's the best I've seen of a on road vid... With the exception of the "IOM".....Listening to the rpm's really help me to compare to what mine "should" sound like though the different points of the turns... I'll be watching this one quite a few times, thx.

That can't be you in the killboy shot. You have two headlights there. What happened to the 'aerodynamic' mod?

It doesn't matter how well he knows the road, that's stupid riding. It's not a race track, it's a public road. I repaired the crash damage back in July. I got tired of everybody asking when I was gonnna fix it.. LOL

I've watched the vid a few times and the only time he crossed the line was when he could see that nothing was coming from the other way. In my book that's ok....... Even though I don't do that on purpose myself, that's what I'd call safe, just not legal.

I don't cross the centre line because I need the practice(and every excuse to wear the edges of my tyres). Also it's my belief that if I do it by the book when no one is watching, I'll do it all the time, just called good driving/riding habits.

But I don't have a problem with other people crossing the line if they can see what's coming, the law can judge him on that not me.

I'm guessing the reason he crossed was to give himself a little break at the rate he was traveling, that's a lot of work......

Watch it a few times... when he crosses you'll see that he has a view ahead.......

One guy said he put his mic in his tank bag to cut the wind noise...... Not knowing how they hook up(not having one), I don't know if they all have a separate mic or not......

DAMN! I miss the gap--gotta get back there again next year! :fing02:

After putting a few thousand miles on that 11 mile stretch of road you tend to look alot further ahead than your TYPICAL Tourists..
Yes the guy in the R6 vid is hauling some serious arse, If he had lost it I doubt he would have lived. He also has/had ALOT of miles on that road.

As for those bashing on him. Skilled ? OK whatever. I agree the vid is nuts. What is safe to some is unsafe to others. Some of the Locals up there street pace is equal to the race pace of others. Funny how its usually the Tourists crashing and killing themselves. But I bet you have never Blasted down your favorite road in whatever state or country you live in.

I guess I should have stated "Dont try this at home folks, The rider in the R6 video is a very seasoned veteran of the sport"

Check the Vhold for a low/high mic setting, that may help. I dont like the scream from the Gopro. It seems to catch the Vtech transition and amplify it.

It's not safe for me if he hits me head on, no matter how well he knows the road. Is he not more likely than not to crash riding like that? Is he not more likely than not to endanger someone else riding like that? That's all I'm saying. That's what tracks are for. :squid:

Yes, but at the track everyone knows they're at the track. Everyone's going the same direction. Everyone knows the protocol and that fast laps are the goal. On a windy public road, the goal is to get from one point to another safely. I doubt the family in the minivan, the group of cautious riders, or the bicyclists coming in the opposite direction agreed to "race on the track."

I don't mean to be a downer, but that kind of crap really bugs me. I've seen a lot of irresponsible riding on my local mountain, where groups or Rossi wanna-bes tear up and down the mountain. Many a rider has gone wide and nearly wrecked into other riders/cars. Many a rider has wrecked. There's a difference between spirited riding and what the guy on the R6 was doing. Using up both lanes to take the best line is beyond wreckless.

And as was stated already, He never crossed where he couldnt see that nothing was coming. At no time did he cross during a blind curve and was usually on the far side of the lane from the yellow, almost on the white line most of the time. He had better lines than some locals including the vids I posted. Camera angles are very decieving. more so on a bike since it ois usually not pointed in the direction of travel. There will always be irrisponsible riders nomatter where you go, Some moving at a snail pace wobbling thru turns and blowing corners. Inexperienced riders going in too hot or too much gas on the exit. On any and every twisty road out there. These are the ones I worry about the most. The experienced well seasoned racer or rider will usually excercise some kind of caution the instant he sees anything that he may percieve as an issue. So the guy in the R6 vid is worse than these guys ? Or the BMW M3 vid I posted at the top. The M3 lost traction 3-4 times. If it wasnt for his traction control he would have needed a wrecker. New video I made playing with 2 CBR1000RR's, Also Gap locals.

Turn up the volume, I fixed the rattle (gopro mount). Now all you hear is the V4 rumble and pegs/boots scraping.. Made the Killboy hilites again too. 3rd time this year already, LOL Still not as oftten as Jeremy556...

Another great video..... Thx. I could see your riding changed from when you were on your own, then when your friend caught and moved to lead... I could hear a difference in your bike sounds(Motor and shifting). I'm not saying anything was right or wrong ... I just liked hearing the whole thing.... I get more out of the sound than the view....... Good stuff!
