Happy New Year!!!!!!
I am getting my wheels powder coated and might as well get some new tires.
I just pondered upon I think is a pretty good deal for the MICHELIN PILOT POWER COMBO

For those who like the Dunlop Q2.....I believe cycle Gear has them on sale for 199 a set. I ran a set of them on my CBR and was very impressed.

decent price, comes to 205$ CAD for our sizes. Not to put a downer on it, but Pete's superbike's (www.petes-superbike.com) Regular price is 209$ CAD for a set of PP, so if you don't want to rush your purchase check him out. He ships to US, has paypal, yada yada...

edit: or 247$ CAD for the PR2/PP combo...

Might want to check the manuf ' date of the tyres, vs's how long you will let them sit before you use them.

The tires will be mounted and scrubbed in right away. :biggrin: weather is gonna be in the 60-70 next week.

till at least tomorrow, BT016, and Q2, 180/55 or 190/50 w/ 120/70 fronts.
The q2s have been that price for a while.

Eric, the Mich you are lookin at are the single compound style, they also have the 2ct listed on that site for a bit more. Just in case you thought those were PP 2ct's, didn't want you to get overexcited. Looking for better deals, stand by.

Eric, the Mich you are lookin at are the single compound style, they also have the 2ct listed on that site for a bit more. Just in case you thought those were PP 2ct's, didn't want you to get overexcited. Looking for better deals, stand by.

I never had a pp 2cts before either, I did a little search about them and came up with alot of opinions. I guess once I wear the set on the RC (soon) I'll try the 2 ct.

The Best track set-up is running a PP 2ct front w/ standard PP rear as the faster you go the Worse the 2ct rear feels and will get greasy feeling if your quick enough. Here in the South our STT Michelin rep reccomends this same set-up.

So don't waste your time or money on a PP 2ct REAR! :biggrin:

So BR, have you tried the Power Ones at the track yet? I was thinking about putting them on my CBR600 F2 trackbike...quite a bit lighter than the Viffer.

Actually I switched to DOT Race Michelin's early on in my track history, but I do have a set of fresh Power One's for my next track day.
I'm a little confused actually as they make a Track and Street version of the Power One's if I'm not mistaken? :huh:

they do. one is "commercial" and is NOT what you want. you want the A, B, V versions at your pace. I have been running B's on the front and Power Race PR5 or Med/soft on rear. working pretty well. i keep hearing that the V is better on front, but i havent run out of grip with the B more than twice, so i havent tried it yet. as soon as it warms up a tad, i am going to buy a V so I have both to try out this year.

Yes, there are Track Vendor only tires that racers use that are Not sold by any Retail Michelin vender, usually only track or race venders!

Found a set of Power One's for $268 front and rear free shipping, no tax to fit the F2. Probably just fine for my level of expertise that consists of just one track season. Can drag the knee, but I just got a lap timer and don't have a feel for how fast I am. Probably not very, since I'm about in the middle to slow-middle of the intermediate group.

How much do you usually give for the race tires per set?

what he said....i am wondering the point of the power one commercial....you already have power pure and power 2ct for the road and the Power One "a, b, c..." for track. anybody have a clue on that?

i get my tires off ebay or from STT tire service. $250ish for a set of track tires isnt bad at all.
