I put on a Kerker "thru" slip on exhaust , took out the heavy stock exhaust. I know the next thing I need is the PCIII to get the most out of it but in the mean time does it hurt the engine running this pipe? I have heard some back pressure is needed for these engines.
Love the sound but don't want to hurt the bike. BTW it is a 2007 VFR anniv. ed.

To answer your question though...the 6th Gen VFR runs leans for emissions and by putting a slip-on you are leaning it out a little more so a PCIII would be recommended.

If you look close the Kerker label is not really on, still cleaning the pipe. Like I said this was a freebe and was filthy when I got it.
want to get it totally cleaned up before I rivet the label on. Don't hate me for this but the elbow pipe is an automotive 45 degree pipe and exhaust hanger from AutoZone! Total cost of the pipe about 20 bucks an a lot of elbow grease.

Your catalytic converter will still provide some backpressue. However, Vanion2 is still correct, running lean is the issue with VFR's.

Wanted to update you guys on the "new" pipe, The sound is as good as or better than some bikes I have heard with twobrothers (they were cbrs), the weight loss (getting rid of the stock pipes) made a big difference as far as I can tell, not sure how big.....I have only been on some short rides around town....toooo darn cold to head up to the mountains yet. I can't wait :biggrin:

I would suggest buying the PCV instead of the PCIII as there are about the same price and you can add Auto-Tune down the road whenever you want. :fing02:

For what it's worth, mine seemed to run worse when I installed my Power Commander. I had a Remus and a K&N filter. I actually had a local tuning shop try to tune the thing and the power range never felt proper. Sure, there was a noticeable power increase, but the ride quality seemed affected. When I pulled it off and just ran the filter and exhaust, I was quite happy for 20k more miles :bliss:
I haven't put the PC on yet, still looking for the best price, the bike seems to be running good now but would at least like to try the PC. I did the whole snorkle removal, flapper open thing, going for the K&N next week or so :biggrin:

There was another user that found this link. http://www.motor-for...946271#10946271 , its for a guyover in europe somewhere not sure where but he put a side mount on his 6th gen and then made an undertail cover. Mepersonaly it looks pretty sick and its on my " i want it" list.

Hey Rogue, I like the stock muffles as well. I gutted mine and the sound is awsome. Kanadian Ken has a fender removal kit that really cleans up the back end. I was concerned about spray soaking my back during a rain but the tailpiece seems to block the water well. Photo attached (I think).

I do like the idea of more trunk space :idea3: ....didn't think about that :pissed: I have already started the "frame work" so guess I will go with what I started. I do have plans for adding led lighting for the lic plate and running blue or red under. So what do you think? Red or Blue? I just don't know what is legal here in CA. :biggrin:

Ide go with red because u could hook it into your brakes for added nightime visibility. I have 2 rows of red on mine. And people def know when im stoppin.
I was thinking about running lights (on all the time) brake lights sound better. I did get the balsa wood covered today with resin and some of the fiberglass on. have to wait for that to cure before I go on. I want it to be as light as I can make it so trying to keep things to a min :biggrin:

Watever floats ur boat friend. I was just curious. But for me personaly after u get a nice mold. Makin one out of prepreg carbon fiber would b fairly easy and look pretty trick too. And there was another type of fabric. Though i cant remember wat it was that is realy good for abrasive resistance.
