So I've lived in Florida all my life and want a change. Recently took a week trip to Denver and fell in love. Between fun roads, great beer, and outdoor rock climbing I think I was in love within the first day. Now to actually move out there. Work- I serve tables in Orlando, most likely could do it there too. I do have a degree, but it's in hospitality management, so it's worth about as much as the paper it was printed on. I'm looking to live outside of Denver because I do have a pitbull mix and I don't think they are ''legal'' in the city yet. So, with this said, I'm thinking april/may for weather reasons. And I'll be needing a place to live. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I recommend Colorado Springs over Denver but that is just my personal opinion. Denver is probably better as far as jobs go but Colorado Springs is definately much prettier and a little cheaper. Boulder is also another option but you might not make much money there since it is a college town.
Topic moved. Denver is the place I grew up and it has changed so much. The economy here is making a comeback but good jobs are more difficult to find. Should be able to find something decent. Make enquiries before moving. Denver is big town but not crazy. The riding is very good in the foothills. Lots of outdoors activities.
Broomfield Loveland Fort Collins are actually the fastest growing areas
I live in Boulder county a few miles east of the Boulder city limit. Cities on the north side aren't too bad, like Louisville, Lafayette, Broomfield, Westminster, Thornton. Close enough to Denver so that going there isn't a big ordeal but far enough out not to feel like a big city. Lots of people to go riding with and nice roads to ride. There is also a very nice new track nearby (High Plains Raceway) if you want to do some track riding. Plenty of rock climbing spots, hiking, trail riding nearby too. You'll stay plenty busy around here.

Lived in Denver 24 years thru 93, It's a decent city, but the Mtns are great. CO is much more outdoor oriented than many, it does snow a bunch at times but weather isn't bad at all.
CO Springs is a nicer community IMO.
Been here in Colorado Springs since 86 or so. I like it better than Denver. A bit smaller and not quite as hectic. 20 minutes and I'm in the curves heading up the pass. Or on a trail biking. Or rock climbing. Or whatever. Only thing we need is an ocean and it would be perfect.
Love it here in Littleton because we are as far away from Denver as you can get and still have the benefits of the metro area. You can't get any easier access to the mountains/roads than we have on the SW side of town. Lots of trails/lakes/twisties/parks/outdoor activities and my bike is usually only parked for about 6 weeks from late Jan to the first of Mar.. (however, I did put on about 70 miles just last week, but snowy now) I have a Littleton mailinmg address but actually live in unincorporated Jefferson County which = more outdoor "open space" parks and way less in taxes. A+++ on Jefferson County!
Well, obviously, take the advice of the locals, but FWIW, I have a good buddy in Aurora and have visited the area many times in the past several years.
Using Monk's criteria :laugh: I'd think about Fort Collins. It might be a bit on the small side, but it does have the New Belgium brewery--and plenty of restaurants.
Boulder is nice too--particularly if you like hiking. There are some great alpine trails nearby. I found my water and sunblock bottles squished flat by the air pressure differential when I got back to Aurora. Boulder has a nice college town vibe too--and lots of restaurants.

Auruora = small $ but it's the farthest from the mountains and the gang issues are relentless.
Boulder = college town fun (C.U.) and close proximtiy to the mountains north of Denver but be prepared for $$$$$ for everything + crowded as hell.
Did I mention JeffCo? :fing02: Jefferson County runs from Golden on the north to Deckers and beyond on the south. Basically the whole front range area west of Denver.
wow, Just got home from work and am loving all the input! I have friends in the Aurora area, some in DTC and then a few near Red Rocks. I'll most likely couch surf for a month or so once I move out to get situated, that is as long as I can find couches with garages near them for my 2 bikes!
It took me longer than expected, But My official move date is Nov 2nd leaving Orlando FL. I think it will take me about 5 days to get there with out rushing. I'm still looking towards the Denver area or Littleton. If anybody needs, or knows of somebody needing a room mate please PM me! I have a dog but she's really good as long other animals aren't around.

First one to say Welcome to Colorado! Sorry, no space for you and your dog though. Still in the 70's/80's here too! Plenty of hospitality/server jobs here. You can't swing a cat w/o hitting a restraunt/hotel.
