Is there a rear shock unit from a different bike which will replace the OEM rear air shock on a '86 VF500F? I want to utilize a used shock unit as I am doing this on a budget.

Before Mr.RC45 I had a love affair with my 86 VF500F Interceptor bought new from Golden Gate
Cycles... I made this into famous Belt-0-Ceptor... I racked up 98,000 trouble free miles... I sold it
to my Air Force buddy up in White City Oregon...

Look carefully and you can see the red spring where installed a
CBR900RR rear shock with remote reservoir... don't recall the trouble
it was but I never give up when it comes to mods...

Custom dash...

Would the shock from an early CBR600 work?

If it does, let me know....I have a Fox Twin-Clicker remote shock on an old Hurricane out back.

How much do you want for the Fox shock?

I like the belt conversion. Did you have to install a belt tensioner to deal with varying length of pulley centres over the suspension travel, or was it OK without?
