at the very least they get points for knowing the target audience.

Not talking about the micro sipes..... But the regular sipe/thread pattern leaves a little more of a band of solid rubber to run on in the middle which would be better as well for dry riding tyre and gas milage. Don't have a clue how the micro sipes will effect wear or handling.

Is it just the micro sipes they added to the tires?? I suspect they are claiming new compounds too.
Dang, not another new tire, I haven't even found the limits of the PR2s yet....although I did get the front end to chatter a bit last week on a couple very tight turns in the twisties..... : :mellow:

These tires will be FANTASTIC in the rain as are heavily siped.
Stuff that a normal tire would slip on, these will hook up and be planted.
Good tire to take on a long trip with gloomy forecast.

jakewilson has these for sale now and in stock...about $20-$30 more per tire as compared to the pr2's....anyone thinking of getting some...it's pretty steep...$300 for two tires + mounting and balance...hopefully the pr2's will come down in price.

Think ill be ordering another set of PR2's soon before there not available, as far as Im concerned they are still the holy grail of tires for vfrs. with all those extra sipes i wonder if they will last as long. alway thought the current ones were fantastic in the rain certainly better than the angels.Hopfully some one needs to try them and let us know if they really are better or just marketing hype.

The way I understood the video I saw, they moved the double compound area(widened the soft compound area of the shoulder), but no mention of changing the compound itself.

I agree, it's been said that sipes help keep the tire cooler which will give it better life (which I'm not convinced of), but on the other hand I'd think that flix would make it heat up more in the first place, and also cause it to wear faster. But the fact that they left more of the solid rubber(the big sipes are more to the side) in the middle will help the wear factor on the straight roads.
I'm getting 8000 + out of my PR2's F&R.
I hope they don't quit making the 2's.....But if they last too long they lose money......

Whoa, Road 3!!! I'm just trying my first Road 2s, and its only a front. Been running Metzlers when I can get them or BT021s. The BT021 on the rear has another few thou in it still, guess I'll have to see what a Road2 front and Road3 rear is like.

I haven't found anything that brings it up. If they did I would think they'd make it part of their selling points....

I am very happy with the grip that it gives, turn in to a corner now fells much quicker.

I am about to get the rear as i have a new rear wheel , a 8 spoke 5.5x17 from a 3rd generation, this has been powder coated
gold in the HRC colour to match the front wheel.

but I can not get a 180/55/17 tyre locally, but can get it on the net.
But i can get the 170/60/17 tyre tomorrow if i what,
so what should i do!!!!

this tyre is officially launched in the UK at the end of march and has a big launch in Ireland for the trade.
but there where some tyres around from the start of jan. they are starting to dry up quickly.

Not disagreeing, anything that helps is always welcome, but it still comes back to us being smooth.......... I had some sipes cut into my Jeeps tyers when I was living in Denver and we got this hard dry ice and the tyres worked way better with the sipes, so I'm guessing what we see isn't what test results show the tyre manufacturers.

I agree with you. I'd like to see if anybody besides the aftermarket siping companies make that claim about reduced heat. I would think more tread squirm = more heat. In terms of getting rubber softer in cold weather, that might be a good thing, but definitely not for tire life. Hmmm...

from my limited experience with rain tires on the track quickly found out you have to run those tires with high tire pressure or sipes will close under heavy braking and accelerating then your sol. the sipes are huge on a track only rain tire, I know they are a completely different tire but principle should be the same. i guess thats why i questioned the value of those micro sipes.
smooth is always good but you can still have unexpected heavy braking in the rain on the street

Wait for the 180, you'll be happy you did!

Can't wait for the pics.

If you can't wait, get the 170s and use your original 5" rim, turn in will be quicker than on a 180. As it is the PRCT2s are a little bit slow on the turn in in general, a wider tire could just amplify that a bit more. Wider tire/wheel is also = to more wieght, but the wider 8 spoker is definitley 10 times nicer looking than the 4th gen 5 spoker! :fing02:
