Superhawk mufflers on my VFR700

The mufflers on my new bike of (2 weeks) were pretty much junk. They were empty aluminum cans, very light weight one had a reasonable dent. Loud, lean sounding, No low end power. I wanted to have a more linear power and needed less noise, I am 60 years old and past the boy racer time in my life.

I thought Honda mufflers that were designed for a 100 hp V-twin would be a good match if I could find some. I located a set on ebay for 25 dollars and a bunch for shipping

I had to cut off some of the nose of the new muffler and weld the end of the exhaust pipe stub onto the muffler.

Here is what the left one looked like when I got it.

There is a black line on the front chrome part to mark where I am cut it off. The end of the pipe was salvaged and it fit over the stock header, The muffler fit over the stub. Not much goes to waste. I slipped on the front stub and bolted the muffler on the bike and put a couple of tack welds. I then welded across the front of it to seal it up. I coated the fresh area with some Eastwood Stainless steel coating

This is what the original pipes looked like, (are they Formula slipons?) and the new mufflers.

I still have a lot to do to get my bike road ready but I did take it up and down the road,,,,Nice smooth and torquey.

Why didn't you fix the dent instead? (I'm pretty certain those are indeed Cobra F1R slip ons)

Still would have been noisy with no low end, a dead end. :)

Apex, How long are those cans? I was looking at trying to do someting like that but ended up getting new internals for
my old supertrapps (which turned out to be from thier ATV line)

They are the better part of 2' long. My bike needs too much detail work to show it off at present. The VTR mufflers did need a fair amount of work to get them on. It wasn't a bolt on proposition.
