1200 Demo Ride

I stopped in the local Honda dealership here in Jacksonville today to see what they had on the Showroom floor. When I sat on the VFR1200 I noticed the engine was hot, so I asked if they were offering demo rides. They were, so I took it out for a spin. If I didn't just buy my 6th gen I would have rode this bike home. Like everybody else has stated the torque is awesome and the brakes are spectacular! If you are a VFR fan and are not sure if you want one, just take one for a ride and you will be writing that check. Here are a few side by side with my RWB for your viewing enjoyment.

Yeah, this is Honda Demo Day and it is raining and tornadic winds here in the Atlanta area.....

Nice bikes, and nice pics. But they're so different-looking that it's hard to believe they're both VFR's....

I really liked the 1200 when I rode it, too. My dealer let me have a brand-spanking new one for a test-ride, (without an escort), and I almost bought it. What stopped me was the amount of $$$ I'd lose on my 1000RR. It was way too much to swallow---even if I tried to sell it privately. As the VFR was brand-new to the market, there were no discounts on the price. I think its come down a little since then, but not much. My dealer still has not sold one unit to date.

I think riders looking for a sport-touring bike of this price-range are more apt to go with a BMW. Which is a shame.

Styling is still a subjective thing and it's really hard to warm up and get used to how the new bike looks. It just looks so strange to me, specially when compared to that RWB next to it. From the brash, angular, defintely sporty, agressive styling of the 6th gen to this new one which looks blunt and bulbous in some angles.......the high hunched back tank profile bothers me in pics and in the flesh too......I dunno....... :blink:
Honda hasn't really hit my buttons style-wise with the VFR since the 4th gen. with only the 6th gen looking really good to me since I got my bike.....but VTEC and no GDVs also kept me from buying it.. The 4th gen might be my last VFR unless something super strange happens like I discover a pristine, low mileage RC45 for sale in a Mexican mall one day........or something... :rolleyes:

95 VFR
