83 vf750 interceptor gas tank

hi there i recently picked up a 83 interceptor 750 and the gas tank has some rust forming in it. its not to bad but i have been searching the internet for a reasonably priced one with no rust in it at all but had no luck. but i was thinking i could build one kinda like the new superbikes were they have a plastic tank under the fiberglass cover. is the gas tank on the old interceptor vacuumed or can it run on any gas can that i hook up

The 83 has an electric fuel pump but I believe they can be gravity fed. Some one should be along to clear that up shortly. Cheers.
