Just thought I would share some pics of my new heat shield. It arrived in the mail today. Overall it was an easy install (after I loosened the rear cowl), and the finished product looks much better than stock. All the holes lined up perfectly and the shield sits like the factory part. Next step, find a rear seat cowl......I wonder if Mark makes a carbon one for the 5th gen????
P.S. I ordered the part from www.carbonpartz.net. Mark was great to deal with and very quick at responding to emails.
Now the street sweepers need to get to work and clean all the winter gravel from the streets!!!!

It gets pretty hot between the rear cylinder manifold pipes and that shield as those pipes can even become red hot after long hard runs, Is there nay kind of heatshield lining on the back to protect the CF from getting toasted after some time? Might be good to add some if there isn't

Thanks for the reply Beck. As long as you buy a good quality carbon fiber with a solid resin and good finish there should be no problem with heat damaging the product. Carbon fiber is used in many high heat applications and the manufacturer who produces this part has been selling them for some time. Other members on the forum have put the shield on their bikes and I have yet to read a write up on a damaged product.
