I had my fuel tank restored this winter - just got it back from paint and took the bike out for the 1st spin of the year after reassembly. She still runs great, about 23k on her...

I rode about 60 miles, mainly straight roads (I live in mid-Ohio). The ride brought up a few concerns/questions..

- Does any manufacturer offer a windscreen for 86/87 VFR700s that offer increased wind protection?
- How much does a helmet effect wind noise.

It's at the point where I wear earplugs every time I ride longer than 5 minutes anywhere and my helmet is buffeted by the wind to the point where it's uncomfortable to turn my head to check the other lane while merging..

Any advice fellas?

Try removing the windscreen and go for a ride. I find sometimes less is more. Seems that a shorter screen makes for clean air at the helmet, less buffeting.

IMO a quiet helmet is a myth. I have a really nice Scorpion EXO-1000 and two cheaper EXO-400's. The 1000 is amazing on an unfaird bike, the quietest I've ever had. But it's pure misery on the fully faired Concours, so loud I can't stand it.
The converse is true of the cheaper helmets. They are quieter on the Connie, much louder on the nakeds.

I just carry earplugs....
