Anyone with a MRA SpoilerScreen Windshield?

I've yet to see one of these screens on a VFR.  Thats partially why I'm interested  seems like something not everyone else has. Would really like to see some pics, especially from the front. How does it perform? Would you recommend I get one or steer clear? I've already ordered and returned a Zero Gravity double bubble. Didn't care for how it looked or fit on my bike.

I've got the MRA Vario Screen, with the adjustable wing and I love it. I'm pretty happy with the MRA quality. Unfortunately, I don't have any experience with the Spoiler Screen, but MRA makes a quality product, so I don't think you'll be dissapointed in that respect.

As long as I've been on this web site, I can't believe I've never heard of them.  I'm actually looking for a new wind screen but they don't have what I'm looking for:

I have a vario touring, and its a great screen. The quality is as good or better than any other windscreen out there. The wing works better than you'd expect too...since it's adjustable over a fairly wide range you can tailor the amount of deflection you want. It's position also drastically changes the amount of noise and buffeting experienced by the rider. I'm 5' 11" and have convertibars set in their highest position, so your experience may vary.



Adding Stealth Edging to the main screen and the top of the lip also makes a minor but noticable improvement in the smoothness of the air coming off of the screen.

I'm 5 feet 10 and am very happy with the screen, the ZG screens are inferior compared to the MRA which is comparable in quality to the stock screen in terms of finish and thickness.

A bit of automobile door edge guard around the top edge works wonders.

It's invaluable if you ride in colder temperatures as you can adjust it to minimize the windblast. Depending on the helmet it can be a bit noisy though

We have one on the 6th gen.
Lisa likes it better than the ZG touring.
At 6'1" I did not feel a huge difference in the two, but at 5'7" Lisa feels a lot of difference.

Thanks for all the replies so far! Just to clarify, I'm really interested in the SpoilerScreen. It's more a sport styled windshield. Not the Vera, the one with the funky wing.
I also thought the ZG seemed poorly made. It didn't have a tight snug fit, and the fact they seemed to skimp on the lower mounting fasteners. Instead of using a full molded eye for the screws to seat through, like the OEM has, they chose to put flimsy and easily breakable clips. Seems someone's not doing their job at R&D.

I'm very interested in this or others like it, as well.

I have a SECDEM touring lip windscreen in Euro smoke grey on my '93. I love it. At 6', it sends the wind right up to the chin bar of my Shoei helmet, and is a very smooth airflow.

I would love to get that fit, look and smoothness on my new-to-me 2004.

Love my MRA Vario-

The quality is everybit as good as OEM, and I would buy it again.

I also think highly of Twisted Throttle as a vendor.

I think I figured out why we haven't seen any MRA spoilerscreens on 6th gens. I ordered it from twistedthrottle.com yesterday and received an email today saying the expected ship date is 8/1/11. Also tried going direct to the MRA website to order. Even though the entire site is in German I was able to find the screen I want. Get to the checkout and it says out of stock, or something similar in German. Kind of perplexing seeing as how they're the manufacturer. Oh well, hopefully twistedthrottle will come through and send it my way this august. When (or if) I get it I'll repost with pics

I was looking all over the internet at any screen for my 07 RWB that would suit me. I knew I wanted smoke. I knew I wanted to raise the wind, lesson the buffeting, etc. but I didn't think I wanted the full on sport touring look of the Givi and I too did not like the ZG quality. This Spoiler model by MRA seems just like what I want. Heading on over to Twisted Throttle to place an order. I will seek to add to Zoomy's review in the future

I bought the Spoiler Screen and I did not like it at all, found it worse than factory. I'm 6'5" and the factory screen threw a lot of wind at me starting at about my chin or neck. The MRA Spoiler dumped very turbulent air at my face. So less wind blast but the blast I did get would turn me into a bobble head over about 60 mph. I ended up cutting the thing up very drastically on a bandsaw after playing around to see what the bike was like with no screen. I have little rain protection now but with my very minimal sliced up MRA at least the wind hits me lower on the body where my mass deals with it better and it's a pretty laminar flow so I'm not getting beaten up by it.

So my advice would be to skip the MRA and just get a Kawasaki ZRX1200 but obviously that may not work for everybody...

I'm 5'10" and have a black MRA DB screen on my bike, works brilliant for me. I do a lot of touring and had several windscreens on over the years. Had a ZG smash as well as a powerbronze. Both very poor quality in my opinion. MRA excellent products, fantastic customer service and huge option range. Never tried the spoiler screen as happy with DB but still interested in finding out the results of riding with one. Curiosity spiked.

Story is that unless I want a barn door sized screen (think KZ900P) I believe that I am too tall for a screen like what comes on VFRs. There is that rather frightening looking thing from ZG that *might* work but I'll just stick to what I've got. Which means the wind protection offered by a ZRX would be about as effective. And there are times when those things look rather nice with their carbs and no fairings and possibly better wiring and ways to mount highway pegs for long trips, etc etc.

Hmm, weird. I'm your same height and have a Secdem touring screen on my '93 VFR, which looks pretty similar to the Givi, and it works perfectly for me.

Of course, I've done 120,000 miles on three unfaired bikes, so i am used to being buffetted. :laughing6-hehe: :mellow:

fwiw: I've had a ZG Sport Touring for a few years now and have had absolutely no problems. I only have the OEM to compare it with, but I've been very happy. I'm 6' 3 and it gets most of the wind over my head - more speed = lower airstream. I also have helibars, so that gets me back a little farther....

Any reviews yet on the MRA Spoilerscreen?

I have one and love it. The pros: The aerodynamics are fantastic. Minimal helmet bobble when sitting in a semi-upright position, like highway riding. Zero bobble when tucked and burning through the corners in the mountains. The screen is constructed extremely well and fits perfectly. Only one of a handful in the states to have one on their VFR. Looks great! And it's not a ZG! The only con I can come up with is that it took a long time to receive after ordering. Close to 3 months. As far as I can tell the only company that sells them for the VFR is twistedthrottle.com. MRA is a German company and does have a website, but unless your proficient in German don't bother. Twistedthrottle.com does not keep our screen in stock, and I have a feeling that MRA doesn't either meaning each one has to be made to order. Is there anybody with this height, and with a passenger with similar height, who has this windscreen model? What are your reviews regarding this windscreen, in this case (wind problems-if there are any, both for the rider and passenger)?

I just ordered the MRA Vario Touring Screen from TwistedThrottle.com. for my '08 VFR. I read numerous reports on the many choices out there and decided to try this one. I'm 6'2" and am mainly looking for improvement here to lessen the stock wind blast a bit and diffuse the air flow. I like the looks of it in charcoal and believe the spoiler will address my goals in wind management. I also sent my stock seat to Russell Day-Long for their sport seat with the Gripper-vinyl covers. I have the RDL on my ST1300 and it makes a world of difference.

Radu, I have that screen on my VFR and I really like it. I can'y find anything to say about it that's bad...BTW, I'm 5' 10" tall.

I would like to get a custom lip made for it that's larger to see if it could be improved but I can't find a shop willing to make one...

I bought the MRA Vario last year. The fit and finish is great! I didn't find the adjustable deflector beneficial and it didn't seem to make much difference in
air flow regardless of its position. I ended up removing it and reinstalling it upside down. Now it basically funnels the air to my chest and has eliminated
the turbulence. I'm 6' - 0" (about 182cm) with Helibars and rarely ride on major highways, freeways, parkways, etc..

Very cool looking spoiler shield, might be great to get one to add to the arsenal! I, too, went with the Vario touring, I'm 5'9 and it's great at it's highest position to push wind out of my face shield.

I just installed one of these about a week ago and love it. It is larger than the wing on the MRA windscreen/ wing combination and is highly adjustable. You are able to adjust both angle and the height. I purchased the bolt on model and once assembled it is an easy install but plan on an hour or so if you ARE mechanically inclined for assembly. The directions have lots of small pics and small type and the fairly complex hinge system is a bit of a head scratcher. Once together it works seamlessly and the adjustability and function are superb. I have mine set near it's peak height and the top edge tilted slightly forward in relation to the windscreen. 60mph with my face shield up is no issue. If you decide you want more breeze just lower the height and/or adjust the tilt. I keep meaning to take pics but have been busy during daylight hrs. It looks similar the the combination noted earlier in the thread but can be used with the stock windscreen. Highly recommend!

Mounting brackets with holes are very close to 10 1/4" apart (side to side) and the holes in the brackets are 1 3/4" apart (top to bottom). These dimensions are close but not down to the mm. The windscreen is obviously curved and I didn't have a soft measuring tape on hand. The kit however does come with a template that you tape to the windscreen for hole drilling. If I remember correctly it uses a 6mm bit which is hard to find at regular hardware so I just converted to fraction and used that bit. It worked fine. The kit also comes in a clamp on version which I looked at but didn't like the looks of it as much.

Pretty sure it's universal but there is a comment somewhere on the website about making sure your windscreen will support it. No problems so far but I am not a speed demon. 85 mph is as fast as I have had it and it seemed fine at that speed.
