I installed K&N air filter about 5 months ago and noticed during idling at stop lights the idle sometimes fluctuates between 1100-1200 rpm, is this normal? When I had the OEM air filter, I didnt pay much attention to the RPM fluctuation. Is the 100 rpm idle fluctuation, due to the K&N air filter or will it be the same with the Honda air filter. The reason Im asking is because of the pain to get to the air filter and try comparison between the Honda & K&N air filter to see if it would make any difference. I saw the video demonstration of removing the fairing but still hesitant on giving it a shot, knowing my luck Ill end up breaking something.
Idle fluctuation K&N is this normal

The K&N should be fine if its like the other Gens where they have a much smaller opening then stock air filters.
But, before the VFR I did have a 2007 R6 that I put a MIVV GP muffler on and it started fluctuating like that and ran pretty rough.
I had to get a PC3 and decided to put in a K&N as well due to them being next to each other in the dealer.
Once I loaded the map they had for their pipe and a K&N everything smoothed out and ran well..
Moral of the story is due to keeping up with emissions standards deviation from stock would cause it to not run right.

With the stock air filter, mine fluctuates about the same as yours. It also stalls sometime when I come to a stop, and does the hesitation in first and second gears with low rpm. My PC-V should be shipping out tomorrow.
