I was glad to install lean metal footpegs from LSL (http://www.lsl-motor...e/php/index.php) two weeks ago on my VFR 1200 DCT. Although I have similar ones on my other bikes (K 1200 R, CBR 1000 RR) I was astonished to experience shortly after starting my tours with the VFR 1200 hurting soles of both of my feet. (I am wearing regular Daytona bike boots.) I made three tours with the metal foot pegs before I exchanged again with the OEM parts - and the pain was gone.
After checking with my dealer and with LSL it apears that the VFR 1200 is producing high frequency vibrations with the said effect.
Anyone else with such experience or ideas about it?

Do you ride with the balls of the foot on the peg, or the arch?
With the balls.
While I have no good news, this is something I'd like to know in general, because I have two reasons that I'd like pegs without the rubber inserts. One, it would add some more leg room. Two, is looks/feel foot grip choices.
But the draw back is vibration, that's why I haven't taken my curb feelers off, I figure that added part will help to tone down the vibration. I've heard of riders that have weighted their pegs in different manners, and that has effectively reduced the vib's. Same as weighting the handlebars.
That's interesting since I have steel toothy pegs on my KLR and haven't noticed a difference (and it runs like a paint shaker).
Maybe you need a boot with a more substantial shank in it to isolate the vibrations and stress on the bottom of your foot.
My SIDI boots have a hardened plastic shank and I can hardly feel any vibration at all.
Thanks for reminding me of the possibility of weighting. This is what you often do with shaking two cylinder bikes. Now I have put heavier weighting to the bar ends which indeed resulted in reduced vibrations of the bars. Still the problem with the pegs exist; I have not seen how you could increase the weight of the pegs.

Metal pegs are expected to be less comfy than rubber dampened.
Sure, and on my other bike I have them, too. But after the PCV installation the VFR 1200 produces a sort of vibrations that litterally let my feet hurt after 30 minutes - even with the rubber inserted OEM pegs and first class Daytona boots.

I've seen cool metel pegs that had a hollow tube shape, which could be filled with lead, etc.?

That would be annoying, Might check the engine mounting bolt torque, rear wheel balance, I wonder if some sort of rubber gasket can be made where the rear sets attach to the frame, out of a peice of innertube?
