I was wondering if anyone could give me an idea of how much it is to insure a 5th gen in BC. I have a 2000 and am thinking about moving to the island. The bike is pretty cheap to insure here in alberta so I have no doubt it will be more.
Not sure if there is much difference in rates there than here in the Okanagan.
I renewed with 3 mil liability and $300 deductible comprehensive coverage (no collision), cost $687 for 6 months.
Just basic liability would be about $420 for 6 months.
That's with my "Roadstar Gold" good driver discount.
For lower mainland BC (Surrey) "Pacific Southwest"
Here's my breakdown:
6 months basic + 2mill------- $419
penalty for short term--------$21
6 months plate fee--------------$17
penalty for short term--------$10
total for 6 months--------------$467/ 6 = $77.83 per month.
And that's with a full Roadstar discount.
Plus optional collision, theft etc from a secondary provider @ $400+ per year.
Well thanks a lot! Looks like Next year I'll be insuring for the whole year for only $370 more. Could take advantage
of those rare and wonderful tease days in spring and fall. You know, tags expired, beautiful day, followed by
a week of rain wind etc then another 'tease day'.
You'll like BC, imagine, in the time it takes you to get to the twisties we've completed the Lillooet loop (about 8hrs just shy of 600km)
one of the better rides in BC. At a take it easy rate stopping for pictures and eats add 2 hours.
Oh ya !! B ring C ash
