It's not me, "I promise" I only have two, but I'm looking anyway - my brothers wife is a horse girl, she told me that it is illegal to have only one horse in the stable, there must be at least two together otherwise they will be crazy in the head - I think it applies the same for motorcycles,  I realy do :beer:

The 83 Kawa 1100 is a friends who lives in the UK, the 85 700sc is a friends that I istalled a new rear on the night before. The other 6 plus my other VF1000R which was on my lift in the garage are mine.

I wish I had a picture of my garage. I only have two, my 94 VFR and a 93 CB750 Nighthawk(might start a Seven-Fifty conversion) so far, with my ATV stuffed in behind them. My girlfriend says I don't need anymore, we will see.

the only one I bought new was the brush cutter, everything else bought used and abused fixed up. ok the 07 was not abused per say in the fact that it was mint, only abuse was it was not ridden, I fix that too :)

oh and I am just starting my vfr collection. if anybody wants to donate a 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 7th and 8th gen I would accept it. you know for the greater good.

I definitely have this disorder, but I'm just looking for a second!  I have my 2006 VFR800i and need advice on the next one.  What does everyone think? (also suggestions and why)

I've got this bad...I have garages in three countries with at least one bike in them.  Needless to say, the big problem for us "sufferers" is riding all of the bikes we already have.  "After all, what is a motorcycle for if it isn't action?"  I now just say that I'm the curator of a private collection of old motorcycles and people stop bothering me about it!

Really like your Crosstour. Really interesting bike that fits right between the Africa Twin and the VFR1200X.

I have a small garage and four bikes. Something has to give as I can barely walk around in it.

So, in the summer I sold my 2005 VFR and I bought this... (CRF250L) because I couldn't get an Africa Twin CRF1000L.

Then in December, I figured the bike wouldn't be coming, so I bought this. (Honda Ridgeline).

Then a week later in December, I got a call from the local Honda dealer, "your bike is here...." So I ended up getting this... Africa Twin CRF1000L.

Now I have a problem... MBD. So I have to get rid of this... XL1000V Varadero. :)

My name's Murat and I have MBD :happy: .

Here's my stable, nothing significant or interesting here but I love them all.

First is my 2010 1200F. I've grown quite attached to it over the years. Pictured during a trackday at Istanbul Park here.

The Kawasaki KLR 600 is a 1993 model, which is the same as my old KLR, only mine was white with green graphics. I sold it in '96 and regretted it ever since. I bought a clean example last May; well as clean as can be expected for a bike this age in Turkey. It was purely a nostalgic purchase but I was quickly reminded why I loved it. Light (for a streebike), nice handling, so comfortable over Istanbul's potholed, bumpy inner city streets. It also allows me to do light off-roading. I am going to get this one painted in the color of my original bike, rebuild the motor and upgrade the suspension.

The red scooter is my first bike, an '88 Vespa PX200. I had it repainted a year ago, after I got rear-ended by a car. It is modified quite extensively. Ported, piped, cut crank, 30mm. carb, 210 cc Malossi big-bore kit, adjustable bitubo shocks, front & rear, tubeless wheels, modified front brake etc. This puppy surprises much bigger bikes and cars on tight roads. I'm taking my daughter on a very slow ride around the block here on her school's final day last summer, it's become a tradition of sorts.

The tiny Honda CY50 is a 1984 model, it was given to me by my uncle. It was in his summer house and was ridden by the caretakers who managed to totally wreck it over the years. The engine was totally gone, the only remaining parts are the crankcase, cylinder head and valve cover. The engine is now 80cc, with a high (!) performance cam, a bigger carb and a high performance filter.

The other scooter is my dad's 1993 Yamaha XC125 Beluga who bought it but hardly rode it. I recently had it refreshed, powdercoated the frame, installed bitubo rear shocks, and a new front-end (someone -not my dad- bent it) etc. It's such a sweet, smooth performing scooter, so well suited to Istanbul's crowded streets.

One stock VF750, one in build mode, one stripped down(was freighted from Melbourne), today one in desperate need of repair/or parts and a '95 VF500, thanks Dutchy. Crossrunner (800X) or an 800F; they're the same wheel though the bronze colour on that pic suggests the 800F.

Your insurance company must love you!  I would have 3 bikes again but I can't really afford to insure 2 bikes on top of all the other crap I need to pay for every month.  Maybe one day I'll have money again hahahhaahaha.  #homeownership

Over two decades on 2-wheel, never had a claim with my insurance co.; only others.

Most of my (street-legal) bikes have only liability coverage anyway.

Antique, dual sport or trail bikes just get insurance transferred as needed. 

I keep my bikes mostly stock, not attractive to criminal eyes, never had a bike stolen, with exception of the modded 1977 CT90, that one had the ignition location changed, only I know how to turn it on. 

Money is only good when you spend them.

This is all that keeps me from buying more.  Every time I think I'm dying for a track weapon, I recall that I would probably use it maybe twice a year but still need to store it, maintain it, and purchase trailer worthy vehicle and a trailer.  This cures me every time, and I would rather pay Keith Code to do all of this for me while riding a brand new literbike every year.

Joined the MBD club with the purchase of a fabulous 1986 VFR750 in RWB livery.  It was restored/refurbished by VFRD forum member Blu Road, who found it in a barn, last registered in 1993. Fortunately for us, Blu Road, in his spare time, is focused on restoring/revitalizing 2nd gen VFR’s. His attention to detail, knowledge, and craftsmanship are second to none. You can follow his work at V4dreams where each build is documented. Check out his site, it’s has some great info and VFR history. This particular 86 was started around April of this year. It is one of those bikes that I couldn’t pass up, 10K miles and upgraded in all the right ways. Had to have it. My plans are to take extremely good care of it, I’m an anal type (it’s ablessing and it’s a curse) and bring to local shows, and occasionaly ride it around the Rocky Mountains.

No, I sold the 900SS about a year ago. Got the big twin itch again and sold the FZ1 to make room for this one. Total cream puff with 8K miles and in perfect condition beyond the spooged windscreen.

Wow!  Love those bikes.....small, nimble, economical, reliable, and naked.  I think they are very cool looking bikes too.  Great find at a ridiculous price!

1986 vfr750 up coming project, I finally have a full set of good fairings for it, will need to be painted but not to broken. acquired 17" f2 wheels with forks that will be going on

good seat and shock. should be good to go, in a few years.

It's ok, if you're like me you'll end up selling it within 2 years. Nice bike, amazing suspension and fun engine, but absolutely no relaxation while riding it. It's like sitting on top of an angry toddler. Never felt so annoyed at being on a bike, one that performed well, too... lol

Still suffering from MBD.  I recently traded in my '15 Gold Wing for a brand new, zero-mile 2019 Wing Tour.  Seeing as it's 19f degrees outside, with a lot of ice near to my driveway, I have not ridden her yet.  I went with the manual transmission model over the DCT, umm, because that's what I feel more comfortable with.  I can't wait for spring to arrive now!

It's ok, if you're like me you'll end up selling it within 2 years. Nice bike, amazing suspension and fun engine, but absolutely no relaxation while riding it. It's like sitting on top of an angry toddler. Never felt so annoyed at being on a bike, one that performed well, too... lol

The STR is without a doubt the fastest street bike I own, but it sounds too much like an inline 4 for my liking.   It had drag bars on it, making comfort worse, so I switched to Renthal street low bend bars (fairly similar to stock) and it is comfortable enough.  My 500X retains the title of angry toddler, though.  It's pure evil and likely to be mine forever.  It's better at touring and highway slabbing than the VFR but nobody wants it because nobody wants a touring motard...

Sold the GSXR.

People that ride motorcycles are stupid, idiotic, societal misfits, have poor judgement, are not intelligent, are to be shunned, and will get killed very soon.

Anyone else get this the second someone finds out you ride a motorcycle?  It gets very old.  It also gets very old how overtly these criticizers and others are obviously trying to kill us with their cages.   Everyone has a snake, person that got killed on a motorcycle, and dog story to tell the world.  Ever notice that?

- Constant Parts Buying Disorder

- Un-fitted Parts Hording Disorder (related to above and can last decades!)

- Selling Unused Parts on eBay at a Steep Loss After Decades of Storage Disorder (again, related to above, Disaproving Spouse Dosorder, and Lack of Space Disorder)

Sufferers of the above often also have Twitchy Right Wrist Disorder. Bikers are often impatient drivers because of this - want to overtake NOW! Want to be ahead of all traffic NOW! If you’ve ever been cut up badly by a car there’s a good chance the driver is a rider too. 

Lots of other disorders - listing yours is cathartic. Try it! 

Given all these complex and interrelated conditions, bikers should be treated as “vulnerable and at-risk” adults with “special needs”. People ought to show a little more sympathy for our plight and forgive our transgressions. 

The key is to raise awareness and get the social help we need.

The fact that we, peacefully, divorced prior to my first mc ('01 VFR8000) released the leash that led to all the other disorders. The leash marks disappeared long ago.  :wheel:

Hi guys,

Plenty of things going on in my life recently like new house, no more garage (...), new job, same wife hopefully 😉

My Bandit is stuck with strange electrical gremlins mixed with carb issues since last November (more than 3 month ago), I barely finished my VFR restoration and rode it for something like 150 km just before I moved to my new place. My friend offered me to borrow his 2007 Triumph Street Triple 675 (he barely uses it) in exchange of good care (and catching up on the maintenance). My wife told me I would need to buy a more recent motorcycle (understand MY>2000 and fuel injected) since it would sleep outside (related to the new house - no garage thread). She told me to buy the Triumph, I told her if I was to spend like 3 to 4 k€ in a bike, that should rather be closer to my dream bike (one that would wake me up at night like my wife said). In the end, I found a Kawi ZX-10R would be a perfect daily ride to commute to work.

So here they are, all the bikes I currently own:

I can't wait for better days/wheather so I can try to solve the Bandit issue(s). Also, that will be the opportunity to go riding with my wife as a passenger on the VFR. I 'll keep the Ninja for solo rides and have to register for trackdays in 2019 but with which bike - Bandit or Kawi?

GUILTY! Though I've pared down from 9 bikes. The stable got down to four after my Suzuki GSX-S750 got totaled. I locked it up on wet pavement.  😞  All I got was a broken little pinky and some gnarly bruises. lol

Anyway, I just couldn't pass up a smokin' deal on another track bike last month, so I'm back to five. The new boy is a 2007 SV650. Ditched the handlebars for clipons and lots more mods yet to come.....

I'm looking at picking up an '02 RC51, 11K miles, Dymag mag wheels, Jardine exhaust, Scotts steering damper, plus a bunch of other goods and extras including an extra set of Honda plastics for track use. It's been sitting for 4+ years, the owner is over 70 and says the riding position isn't for him anymore. He's had it since '04, and I believe was the 3rd owner.

It's going to need tires, fluids changed, maybe fork seals, registration renewed. It's registered non-op but has a clean title. Other than that it looks very clean, runs & sounds good, maybe needs some Seafoam and/or old gas changed out. No indication it was every low-sided. Price is $5K and he will not budge on that.

What's the wisdom of the MBD group? Add it to the stable?

Yeah,  great buy.   Enjoy!. If I had space and saw an RC51 that clean, I'd have it too. They're aggressive compared to VFRs, definitely not a tourer, but one of those bikes that just work wonderfully for what they're meant to do.

I was thinking in terms of range on a single tank, personally.

Tank bag is probably nice for the third or fourth hour on the road. Just that much more to lean against if you have to make a stretch of straight road. When I rode one the first time I found the seating instantly comfortable. Very much a familiar Honda seating position, but it definitely more on your toes, leaned forward some as a track bike should be. Wasn't long before I was comfortable resting with just a little weight on the tank, nestled in there like a monkey humping a football, and totally didn't feel cramped or stretched out.

My amazing wife surprised me this weekend. Unbeknownst to me, she purchased a Nicky Hayden Edition RC51 for me. We went to Grapevine to pick it up yesterday. This bike has been on my bucket list of bikes to own. I am just beyond words. She picked a great one. It has everything I’d add. GPR Steering stabilizer, full exhaust, power commander, smoked windscreen, hot bodies under tail, and more. Just an amazing bike. It is everything I’d dreamed of. So dope.  Seems like many many fellow VFR owners also own RC51's as well.  It just fits doesn't it?  

The other bikes in my garage are my 2014 CB1100, the VFR800, an a project 1981 CX500.

My name's Murat and I have MBD :happy: .

Here's my stable, nothing significant or interesting here but I love them all.

First is my 2010 1200F. I've grown quite attached to it over the years. Pictured during a trackday at Istanbul Park here.

The Kawasaki KLR 600 is a 1993 model, which is the same as my old KLR, only mine was white with green graphics. I sold it in '96 and regretted it ever since. I bought a clean example last May; well as clean as can be expected for a bike this age in Turkey. It was purely a nostalgic purchase but I was quickly reminded why I loved it. Light (for a streebike), nice handling, so comfortable over Istanbul's potholed, bumpy inner city streets. It also allows me to do light off-roading. I am going to get this one painted in the color of my original bike, rebuild the motor and upgrade the suspension.

The red scooter is my first bike, an '88 Vespa PX200. I had it repainted a year ago, after I got rear-ended by a car. It is modified quite extensively. Ported, piped, cut crank, 30mm. carb, 210 cc Malossi big-bore kit, adjustable bitubo shocks, front & rear, tubeless wheels, modified front brake etc. This puppy surprises much bigger bikes and cars on tight roads. I'm taking my daughter on a very slow ride around the block here on her school's final day last summer, it's become a tradition of sorts.

The tiny Honda CY50 is a 1984 model, it was given to me by my uncle. It was in his summer house and was ridden by the caretakers who managed to totally wreck it over the years. The engine was totally gone, the only remaining parts are the crankcase, cylinder head and valve cover. The engine is now 80cc, with a high (!) performance cam, a bigger carb and a high performance filter.

The other scooter is my dad's 1993 Yamaha XC125 Beluga who bought it but hardly rode it. I recently had it refreshed, powdercoated the frame, installed bitubo rear shocks, and a new front-end (someone -not my dad- bent it) etc. It's such a sweet, smooth performing scooter, so well suited to Istanbul's crowded streets.

This is going to be an update of my garage.

I sold the VFR1200F, and to a good home I'm happy to say. In its place is a 2017 KTM 1290 Super Adventure S now. Supremely powerful, very comfortable, very high tech, I love it.

The Kawasaki KLR 600 is now done, with a few period correct tweaks and a couple of current ones (suspension on both ends). It's now in the exact color as the old one. It's such an enjoyable bike, I love it to bits.

The CY had incorrect tires so I replaced them with the correct versions. This is such a fun bike; it does around 50 km/h at most but gets there reasonably well. It gets a lot of looks :-).

And the last one I got a couple of days ago. I really didn't need this one, I shouldn't have. I looked for a clean enough sample (good chassis and sound engine block) in Turkey for a long time but there are none left. So I bit the bullet, and paid way more than I should've or what it'd be worth in the US or Europe. It's the same color as my first sports-bike  that I sold in 2000; a 1997 Kawasaki ZX-7R. It's very clean, relatively low mileage (61.000 kms / 38.000 miles). It has some nice bits like a Yoshimura RS3 slip-on (though I'll put the original back on; not a fan of loud exhausts on I4s) and an ignition advancer. I'll be doing some relatively minor modifications over the winter. I also need to get used to the riding position again, it's just horrible after 20 years 😄 . 

I thought I should update my status and may be bump this old thread, hope you like it guys 🙂 ...

Also on the topic of "alternative" choices: I present to you my latest acquisition, a 2001 Honda Silverwing 600. The water-cooler FI twin cylinder head is just like a VFR, but this has a belt-driven CVT transmission. 70,000km, and another example of "it looked better on eBay...". Going to have my work cut out for me with this one, the PO rode it till it started giving grief I think, an oil leak and also burnt stator (hey, it is a Honda!) for starters, and it has been left in the elements for a few years so the corrosion levels are epic. Then there are the incorrect fasteners all over, missing fasteners, or (shock!) using silicone sealer to glue body parts back on....bleurgh.

Since 2013, I've been commuting back and forth between Phila, PA and Brooklyn, NY.
Motorcycles are better suited for long distance on the highway, but lack the luggage carrying capacity.
Additionally, once I get to Brooklyn, bumper-to-bumper traffic pattern occurs more often than I like, 

clutch-n-shift become old really quickly in the gridlock traffic. Most of my commute within NYC metro have been done on a maxi-scoot.

My Burgman 650 was purcahsed under $2k, with 6k miles on odometer back in 2013; now over 23k mi.  

Triple digit speed capable, plenty of underseat storage, twist-n-go, no-clutch-shifting; 

not to mention that my wife gets to sit on a much comfortable seat than my other motorcycles, even has a backrest.
Sure most motorcyclists don't consider much of scooters, but in reality, I prefer the Maxi-scooter over many of my other regular motorcycles. 

2-wheel vehicles are about maneuverability in traffic and efficiency, scooters are better in both.

Added this '76 CB750F last summer, just getting around to cleaning it up. It's all original, locally owned bike, completely unmolested. Owner was retiring to Oregon and didn't want to drag it along.

I like the look of the '75-'76 SS with wire wheels, before they went to the Comstars. It's just a classic.

In 1978 I rode pillion from Townsville to Adelaide (around 3,200km) on a 78 model. It was really what got me in to motorcycling. I hadn’t even got a learners licence but my mate risked letting me ride on some of the deserted roads in outback NSW. Still here to tell the tale. Thanks Chris if you are still out there 😊

It  does.

In the olden days we'd use a tie-wrap.

Prior to that, a tapping sound meant something was hitting the top of the front fender;

this was an indication of excess travel   :goofy:

Are those Yoshimuras way too loud?

If not done already, I'd whip out the multimeter and do "The Drill" on the altenator (Ohm and Vac), the battery (Vdc) charging/the RR output and have the battery load tested.

Set suspension (sag etc) to your weight, don your leathers and ride her like you stole her!!!  :goofy:  

PS: good move to replace them -ahem- "tasteful" red anodised levers and bolts  :beer:

Agreed Dutchy, the red anodized bits had to go. 

Yes the Yosh pipes sounded great but for how I will use this bike on street just way too loud, I felt like I could be heard from miles away, I don't mind having to lose trouble when found but don't need them to be sitting ahead waiting for me if you know what I mean. 

Tell me more about "the drill"? Is there something the RC is prone to for electrics? The bike is all stock as far as electronics go.

Back in 2012, @gradus kindly lend me his 6th gen for TMAC.  Prior to attending, I rode through Georgia, Alabama en Tennessee (to visit @skuuter).  The pipes were gutted so long and behold, a police cruiser in some hick town was lurking behind a billboard (Blues Brothers anyone? 😎😄😄) and got right on my tail until I crossed the county line....

Bought my SP2 with Laser GP pipes w/o any wool left....  Like 102dba+  They were replaced pronto

Picked up another SV for $600.
01 model, nearly stock, under 8k miles, less than 30 miles ridden in the last 7 years, have been sitting in the last 2 years. 
No rust inside the fuel tank. Will need chain/sprockets, fork seals, all fluids, etc..

It will be a nice & easy winter project, make a quick profit next spring.

Ok, she is rough, so after about a week of thought, I decided to make a street fighter out of it. The bike is rough, and a salvage title,  but everything is there. The reason I bought it was the price, as I was looking for a beater Honda Elite 80, or Spree scooter to buzz around the pits for track days. This bike was cheaper than the scooter, I my gear-head brain said, "Come on, it might be thrashed, but it's still a 100hp bike, it's gotta be better than a scooter."

I will start a thread for the quick and cheap build in the 3rd gen section...

The bikes are great. The Bernese is fantastic. I had one but it didn’t last long enough.

Ours made it to 9 and she was the perfect dog. Got on well with everyone and most other dogs. Have a German Shepherd now, a completely different kettle of fish.

Mrs VFR78 was raised in Basel, Switzerland, so another Bernese is a must have.

bernese mountain dogs are the best dogs. if someone has never shared company with one they don't understand. You are all absolutely right. Once you have had a Berner its difficult to have anything . I grew up with Dobermans and Shepherds all who were trained proper guard dogs . I like all dogs really but my heart has been severely broken by a Bernese . 

To anyone who has lost a dog, I feel your pain .

Finally got enough miles on the 18SP CBR for first service, while up at the shop had the ECU flashed as well, oh my this bike is so light fast n smooth it's ridiculous, fits me perfect @ 5'8" 140 lbs. Nice dry PNW morning today, I was able to get her out for a rip, TGIFF!  :fing02: :fing02:

Thanks guys, I was able to spend some time cleaning her up today, so far so good, needs new fork seals and tires, other than that all seems to be in order. Oh my the OZ wheels cleaned up real nice, I've had a couple dozen bikes over the years but have never had aftermarket light wheels, looking forward to feeling the difference.

Lol, yes I think about a half dozen PB stands...  :blink:

Both years 00 & 01 of the original RC51 SP have them same silver with black tail, 02 (which mine are) is the only year of the SP2 that have the silver with black tail. 03 was black with silver tail, 04 was silver with white tail ala Nicky Hayden version, and 05 & 06 were black with a dark charcoal color tail. To most, me included prior to owning I thought they were more or less all the same colors, now that I have them I notice all the differences between years, even the sides have different stickers for each year.

Oh, here's the HRC sticker you're looking for. 🙂
