I just read a post on this VFR1200 site in the UK. I asked if this update was for UK only or worldwide, let's hope worldwide. The post sounds like it was made by someone who works for a Honda shop and claims to have done several updates. Let's hope this is for real and not just a troll.

This change modify the behavior of the bike and makes it more smoother at low revs.
The other change is that the bike performs better on a light throttle.
As my dealer says: "it's night and day!" (I'm not really sure of the translation... :p )
[edit] this update has been implemented on my VFR1200FD last Saturday and the changes above are those I note.
Reprogramming is scheduled on next week for my VFR F.
I'm impatient to see the result.
As Woks said, all feedbacks in France are good.

Well, I just found out from the local Powerhouse dealer that there is no map update available, at least not in CA. Apparently only the UK/EU markets get an update, let's hope one is not far behind for the US. I would much rather have a new map than use an expensive bandaid like PC5.
I don't know if you have the same behavior as EU market because you don't have the same ECU (HISS feature on our products).
It seems to fix judder in low speed. It's really the main issue from my point of view.
I expect a smoothie riding on 2nd gear.
I will keep you posted.

I've only had the VFR for about 1500 miles, and I've been training myself to "ride around" the 1st and 2nd gear "power trough" (plus, disconnected the exhaust flapper cable, which seemed to help a TINY bit). Nevertheless, the "trough" is a GIGANTIC PITA.
I think the BEST solution would have been full power in all gears with an effective (and disable-able) Anti-Spin Control (like the K1300S). Honestly, I'm perplexed why Honda decided on the Nanny Map instead. AND, more importantly, why they made the Nanny Map SO restrictive! Just a LITTLE more fuel would have still been safe, and certainly safer than the current disaster.

I couldnt agree more
I didnt spend my money with Mr Honda to have him tell me how much power Im allowed and it seems Honda are going down the BMW route, just deny theres a problem, I have had about 15 Honda,s over the last 12 years if they dont sort this epic screw up out and the bike runs as expected this one will be my last !!! apart from that and the BT021 tyres that are just the pits in the wet, I find the bike to be fine !!! I also disconnected the flapper valve in the exhaust which seemed to make a little difference but now ive fitted a scorpion Exhaust and a set of helibars so heres hoping
this is hilarious. everytime a new generation vfr comes out it gets bashed by owners of the previous generation. and also owners of the new generation complain of how jerky and overall shity the stock fueling is. if theres ever been a time to where ive truly accepted the vfr1200 as a real vfr its now, seeing you guys dealing with the crapy oem throttle mapping. apparently this thing really is a vfr lol. when i first bought my 07 vfr the lurching and jerking at steady throttle and low revs was unbearable, but after o2 eliminators and a custom map its a dream to drive. this is just something that everyone who buys any stock vfr made after 2000 is going to have to come to terms with. 99 percent of the time, its going to drive like shit at low revs/gears until you get rid of the 02 sensors and get a custom tune, and then theyre an amazing bike after that. this should be the first mod that any vfr owner does. it just sucks that you guys have to deal with the 1st/2nd gear power restriction and top speed limiter.
My PC V was $270; my Leo Vince slip on was $270 as well. My GPS mod cost $15 for a solder gun. Full power in 1st and 2nd gear now, with no big dips around 3-4k rpm.
The fueling and gear position 1st and 2nd gear issues are solvable.

The VFR works exactly the way it was designed to work and runs the way the designers expected it to run. BMWs were not designed to stall randomly and munch their final drives occasionally.
The power dip in first and second is annoying but it is easy to fix. Suzuki and Kawasaki sportbikes have had a similar "timing retarder map" for a few generations.
Consider this: the VFR1200 makes more torque when fully restricted (at the bottom of the "dip) than a VFR800 makes at peak.
It's annoying but not enough to ruin a great bike.
As promised, the CDI update was done two days ago.
250km later, my feedback:
- now, it's possible to really use 6nd gear. You can keep this gear between 50 and 2XX km/h
- less judder in low speed
- the bike seems to have more torque
I wrote less judder because I still have judder when i ride at 2000rpm (only at this rpm). you can easy bypass this behavior if you select an other gear.
I think, it is a mandatory update for each vfr rider. :)

The Honda bulletin no is 07072011 ECM Rewrite, my bike is booked in next Thursady at Dobles over here in the UK for this essential work to be done its a must as far as I am concerned as I think the bikes throttle responce is dangerious when in 2nd going round a roundabout in the wet especially, once completed Ill report back on the difference
Hopefully you guys over there can find out from the above bulletin no if you can get it done every one here says it makes the world of difference

Harey, it's CN2 from the other site. I see they shut down the thread, so I'm following here now. Have you had a chance to see what's up with US regarding remap? I just got my bike back from dealer and they were shaking their heads like I was crazy when mentioning. Thanks-
Maybe the 1st and 2nd gear restriction is partly to avoid strain on the shaft setup at low speed.
