Finished putting the bike together after checking valve clearances. Buttoned it all up, fired it up, and all seemed fine, except I quickly noticed it is spewing gas from the front and rear cylinders in the overflow hole or something. Any ideas come to mind as obvious? I was hoping to head out tomorrow for the weekend with my wife, so I thought I'd ask the experts while I investigate.
I did have the fuel rails off, and I suspect that may be where the problem lies, but just giving that info in case it is relevant.
Might just be fuel from the vent hose or drain hose if this is the case it is not a big deal it supposed to do that, a result of the tank being pushed up.
If its is spewing then the quick connect is probably came undone. There is a rubber pull tab on the fuel rail that is supposed to hold the times apart and on the tank itself a plastic cover piece holds it secure on the pump.
Just checked the quick disconnects, and they are fine. Rubber pull tab is secure.
The fuel is coming out of the front cylinder only when running, out of a tiny hole in the middle of the cylinder head. There is also fuel all over the left side of the engine, which I assume is coming from a similar hole in the rear cylinders.
I would double check that you got the throttle body completely seated in the boots cause it might be leaking fuel there. Or the spark plugs not sealing so it is spilling out and conning out the spark plug drain weep hole? I think you are going to have to dig into it again.
It was a bad o-ring on #2 injector. Luckily I had some o-rings lying around- had to use two slightly smaller o-rings than the original one, but it seems to work ok as a temporary fix. I guess I damaged it pulling it out or putting it in. Sure don't remember doing it but there was no one else in the shop to blame!
Honda shares fuel injectors on thier bikes with some of thier cars, I was able to source an oring kit for my 1998 vfr from Napa for half the price, these are the part numbers, the 98 had the same injector they used on the civic of that year, of course I had motorcycle part numbers and had to search for the car part number for the same injector on my 98. I know for a fact Honda uses the same injector on the vfr1200 as they do on the new CBR's same part number. Just have to find the orginal part number for the injector itself on one of thier cars. I put that napa seal kit on the 98 and it fit perfect.
They say right in the manual new oring seals every time you remove the injectors, so next time I do my valves those injectors are NOT comming out!
