This weekend is two events:
The NHRA Winternationals in Pomona.
The Elsinore Grand Prix (of On Any Sunday fame).
Next month:
John Force Holiday Car Show Dec 4th.
Long Beach Bike Show Dec 9-11.
Anyone interested?
I was planning on going to the Long Beach show. Not sure what day though. Coincidently, I just did a project for John Force Racing, however I won't be in town on the 4th, so I can't make that event.
We entered the car show last year. We were the only bikes there.
No specific bike catagory, but lots of fun watching people stop and look the bikes over
If the people in here have never been, you're all in for one heck of a treat!
I think the Winternationals are going to be a hit and miss situation. Weather front coming through this weekend calling for rain, most of it on Saturday. Doubt if they'd run a National w/o qualifying on Saturday. Wait and see, I guess ! .....
They'll push it all back one day if it get's bad enough, they've done that before.
Qualifying went without a hitch and today is perfect for NHRA ! .... Lookin' forward to the TV slot, late afternoon.. GO WORSHAM ! !
That's great! It rained here off-and-on all afternoon yesterday.
Worsham takes top fuel ! ! ! ! Woooot ! Two conjoined VFRs on methanol totaling 8k hp ! ... No ? :pinocchio:
Melanie Troxel went "off-roading" that scared the crap out of her!!
Sure did ! She was next to tears while being interviewed. A real eye-opener, but these pros know how dangerous it is with that much HP.... She'll be back next year, and I'd like to see her do well.
Oh, did I mention I'm an NHRA freak ! ! ? ? ? Hope to get to the Winternationals next year.....
I've taken the Frank Hawley Pro Stock M/C course a few years back. Angele Sampey was with George Bryce at the time. George is quite a guy, Angele was sweet! That was one expensive course when you factor in a plane ticket to Gainsville, hotel and rental car to go with the cost of the course.
I'd do it again in a heartbeat if I had the cash. I'd work for George anytime!
I've done one track day at Willow Springs (Big Willow) last November .... what a thrill that was ! Ol'86 handled herself very will over the three sessions I was able to ride before a got tired... I was all set to do a second one at Button Willow Nov. 26, but was blocked by my mgr. Black Friday weekend, NOBODY is off ! ! ! Did I mention retail sucks ?
I'll likely be going to the Long Beach Motorcycle show on Sunday morning.
I have to return to work down to San Diego Sunday night; I'll be going on Saturday.
Dec 11 ... got my ticket in hand !
Riding buddy and I go to the Long Beach show every year and this year will be no different. If you need a heated vest for the season, stop by the Gerbing's booth.
Sunday, we'll be heading to the Aquarium across the street during the morning then head over to the show some time late afternoon.
Last year, it was raining. Hopefully this year will be clear.
Thinking Maybe on the Long Beach Show... Don't know if I have anything going on that weekend

I went on that day, there was
really light attendance at the show. Bought a set of Gortex gloves before the trip home. It was nice to be dry.
Progressive Show in Long Beach: Turns out we're going Friday afternoon around 1pm. Not sure how many people are going to be there at that time but we're hoping to miss the rush. If anyone will be around Friday night, we're going to have dinner in the Long Beach area and wait out traffic.
You may want to check that start time. I've always understood that the show started @ 4pm on Friday..
Thanks for the heads up. I forgot. =/ Going Saturday.
Sunday morning! Chicken and Waffles before the show. :idea3:

I'll be going on Saturday, I might have to stop and get me some Roscoe's before the show. I didn't know they were there until today when I was looking on my iPhone for restaurants near the convention center. Funny, now that the wife knows about Roscoe's, suddenly she has an interest in joining me!

I have the Yelp app on the iPhone, that's what I used that to discover Roscoe's was in LB. It's great when I'm out of town on business. Sometimes I use the Urban Spoon app when I'm feeling adventurous.
Well, I'll be leaving for the bike show in about an hour.. on the Goldwing. It's 39 here in Elsinore  , I want more fairing in front of me (and more saddlebags to carry stuff). My husband will be along this afternoon, hopefully before I use the credit card too much!
So, if you see a jade green, good looking GL1100, that's me! :tour: and 10,000 other bikes in the lot!
R. Lee Ermey is supposed to be there today at the Victory display!
Going today to LB. For the show
The show was great but Gerbing's didn't make it. They had trailer problems or something.
Hope whoever went had a great time. Catch you next year!
I walked around all day Saturday. I stood in line to meet R. Lee Ermey, and even wandered around the Harley display! They had a bike all bolted into dyno rollers, and were letting people who never rode a bike, get on and start up (under the supervision of a trainer). They had demos and discussions too. Class act.
