Anyone have any tips or tricks for getting these things off. I started pulling all the plastic off my wifes 07 and got to the part of pulling these covers. Read the FSM numerous times and the owners manual. I thought I was going to break the $%#& thing trying to get it out.

It shows how they work in the service manual.....which you can download from this site.

That is what I meant by FSM (Factory Service Manual). I read it a few times along with the owners manual but when it says pull it back to remove it from the grommet it is also being held in place by a couple of tabs on the front/upper fairing. I see where it hooks into the instrument panel cover with the 2 tabs also. All I wanted to know is if anyone has any tricks on getting it pulled away from the from the upper/front fairing to be able to slide it away from the instrument panel cover.
Just swing it(SP) out like a hinged door while moving it up and down slightly.
The panels are pretty tough so don't be afraid to use a little force. For the right one, push the outer edge of the meter panel where it meets the upper towards the gauges. Then pull back on it and it should pop loose. There's a diagram somewhere on the forum. I may have it on my computer at home.
Edit: Couldn't find the diagram but here's a couple pics.
