Just as clarification, this is for the original Pilot Road, which has since been replaced by the PR2 and PR3 so the date codes on the tires may be somewhat old, I don't know.

I'm running a set of the "old" Pilot Roads on my viffer now and have been quite pleased w/their longevity and handling. Although I'd planned to upgrade to PR II's at the next tire change, I decided to order another PR rear for the deal was too good to pass up.

Note: I considered ordering a PR II front at the same time, but decided to hold off after realizing the 20% discount code would only apply to mdse that's already clearance-priced. Even so, less than $220 w/free shipping for a pair of Michelins still seems like a pretty good deal.

After applying the 20% discount code the total was $100.79.

Thanks for the link, But I would Never run a standard PR myself.  One of the vegest tires I've ever run when pushed(which is all the time). :tongue:

I know guys who don't ride their VFR's like sport bikes can still enjoy the PR, if you like the PR you'll be amazed by the PR2!

All I can say is "wow"!

It's hard for me to imagine how PR IIs could represent a 100% improvement over the originals, but I'll take your word for it. I may decide to hang on to the PR rear I just ordered for use as a spare, and choose to spoon on a fresh set of PR IIs before I come toTmac. Based on all the praise I've read from so many riders about the PR IIs they must truly be outstanding tires.

Of course I'm over 50 and the primary provider for my family. So I'd classify myself as more of a "ride a sport-touring pace" sort of rider and as a result I may not ride close enough to the edge to truly appreciate how much of an improvement PR IIs may represent over the originals.

In any case the difference was like night and day (in a good way) when I installed a set of the original PR skins to replace the 13-year-old original equipment Dunlops still mounted on my '98 when I purchased it last year. After putting approximately 5k miles on the PRs they still appear to have nearly half the original tread and (to me at least) still seem to steer and handle quite well.

I really like the PR2's, but I wound up replacing my NEW rear PR2 tire with this PR (cost factor) as I inadvertantly damaged the valve stem and deflated the tire damaging it after riding for a good 10 minutes - (a driver on the NJ Turnpike pointed to my rear tire as he passed me).  Thankfully, I had my mini compressor pump & some elect tape... got me home, stopping to fill it with air every 15 mins.
