Interesting. I wonder what series that was? Not often you see bikes of differing displacements, 2 and 4 stroke racing together. 2002 MotoGP season comes to mind......

Its a UK Supersport 400cc series where 400cc 4 strokes and 250cc 2 strokes could enter.
What buggs me is that the NC30 was stock quit slow compare to a stock street 600cc 4 Stroke but a stock RGV250 is close to a stock 600cc bike in performance in stock form
In this vid they have close performance.

The 2 strokes are much lighter than the four strokes stock. Im sure there was a minimum weight that leveled the performance difference.
Might be.
I have found some info of the RGV used in the race and series, made 74hp at the rear wheel, but to make that the ignition was so adwanse that whit the "green" pump fuel they had to use it detonated so the pistons just lived one race, and it can be a reason the NC pulls away during the last lap, the RGV was loosing power and fast.
The series bikes had to run stock CDI box, but exhaust was free. I don`t know what the HRC kit for the NC30 inholds to make the bike lighter and faster. Sertanly not rear sets to make the round clarense bigger, a issue that bike had according to Carl Fogarty. This vid was found from a link in Performance bike issue OCT 2008, that also has a several opening writ of the NC30 + a opening whit comments of the races in the vid from the 2 riders.

74 horsepower is probably pretty close to what the NC30 was making with all the HRC kit parts. If they both weighed about the same then the Honda would likely be the easier bike to ride fast.
For reference, my old NC30 put down 56 hp to the rear wheel completely stock, but the torque curve was as flat as a pancake!
If you want to hear him talk about it, check out Motopod.com podcast #317. It's kinda long and the bit with Foggy and James is in the middle, but good stuff. It's alluded to in that episode, but there is a longer talk with Whitham about it in a much earlier ep. Would have to look it up, I'm not sure off hand.
