Is Honda stupid? How are you supposed to remove the low beam bulb plug?

The high beam bulb connectors were easy to get off.  Two prongs on opposite sides with push-type release mechanisms.

For the life of me, I couldn't get the low beam plugs off.  I pushed those two push-type release mechanisms so freaking hard, my fingers were imprinted with the plastic molding.  So I finally got the left one free and would you look at that!!  It's connected to the upper prong, WITH NO WAY TO RELEASE IT!!!

I've been struggling with the right side one for a good 30 minutes, and it does not want to come off.  How the hell do you take it off if it's locked and there's no way to release the pin?!?!

Slide a shim into the part that needs to unlock and keep the shim in there while removing seperating the plug.

Small zip ty's work well for this type work.

Well that didn't work.

I ended up cutting the wires and even with the whole headlight assembly off and putting shims inside, it STILL wouldn't come out.  Holy eff, but finally after some serious mangling, it came free.

Looks like the locking mechanism was broken.. or maybe I broke it.. but that was annoying.. light bulb connectors should not be this difficult to remove!

Good to see I'm not just ignorant!  Took me a good hour and a half!

I remember once at a TMAC....

my 06 low beams have side clips, squeese the sides and very light pull, shouldnt have to pull at all, connector comes right out.

Well aren't you lucky!  The problem is, mine aren't on the side.. it's the top one that refused to come off.

It's ok, I don't need the connector anyway, installing HIDs but would have liked to keep things so I could reverse the procedure.  I'll have to source a plug from Ebay and solder the wires back together in the future!

I tore mine down for paint for the first time a couple weeks ago and I didn't have much trouble with it at all and I'm known for always making a simple job difficult haha

Something must be wrong with yours.
When I tried removing mine for the first time, I haven't read the manual ('coz manuals are for wusses) and spent about 40  minutes yanking on those plugs...  Finally asked someone here how to do it and they came out in a few seconds easy.
