Or a sunpass, i-pass, etc. Where do you mount your toll pass?
I can't fit it on the windscreen unless I put it right in the center, and that looks horrible. Is there anywhere behind the front fairing where it can be hidden?

I have an ez-pass, but I don't have it mounted on bike. I would think if its behind the fairing it won't detect it when you go through the toll booth. I would say if you can't mount it on your windshield, maybe throw it in a tank bag if you have one so it can easily be taken out to ride through with.
Haven't been on the turnpike with my bike yet.
Funny you should bring this up today.. I looked at my ez pass statement that came in the mail TODAY. I looked to see if the ez pass worked by being in my pants pocket. It did. I have been stopping at the toll and handing the money over because I too didn't want to mount the ez pass. But I got tired of that. I just kinda sat up a little straight on the bike as I passed underneath. It worked. I hope it works for you. I imagine if you called them after a trip through and asked them if you were charged, they wouldn't hassle you as you called them. Then at least you'll know which pocket works.
I put mine in the top of my tank bag. Works fine.
If the pass doesn't read you, then they take your picture of the plates. As long as you have your plates listed on your EZ pass account, they will bill you. One of the smart things they do.
I bought these very large foam twisties for $2 at a dollar store. Use them to tie it to the handlebars. Easy to remove.
Just slide it down between the windscreen and the fairing till it "jams" in place....works fine for me

While towing my cage to the track I noticed the EZPass light turn green as I was stopped to pay my toll
I was driving the truck, the EZPass was in the car's center console, on the trailer behind me
I swear a tank bag or a pants pocket ought to work just fine
I have a fastpass in CA but I don't keep it on the bike. I registered my license plate and let them look it up to bill me. Not sure if you can do the same but to me it might keep someone employeed that the fastpass took away by automating the bridges. Screw progression when it takes away jobs :)
I don't have a tank bag, and the few times I have put the EZ pass in my jacket pocket, it doesn't work.
I also can't just run through the toll, as if this happens a few times, they start assessing a $25 admin fee.
I keep mine between the windscreen & fairing.
Here in central VA if the sensor doesn't read the EZPASs, they will charge your account based on your plate number if the vehicle is registered to your account. However, they'll only do this a few times for free. After I forgot to switch the tag between vehicles twice in a month I got a letter saying there would be a charge if it happened again.

TrippleH, I would have forgotten too. I have one of those bags they give you when you first get the transponder that is supposed to prevent accidental charges if you're not using it. I keep it in that in the console of my car as well. However, I never added the viffer to the ez pass account so the transponder has to be working as they wouldn't know who to charge it to right? (I haven't received any tickets in the mail saying I ran a toll). The charges went right to my account as usual.

I used to work for the outfit that made the transponders. They are designed to work when stuck on the inside of a car windscreen, and to minimize triggering the readers in adjacent lanes. So...
- Mount it appx in the direction it would be on a car windscreen. Mostly flat side up, and forward. They are
designed not to work 'sideways' to avoid triggering adjacent lanes when mounted in a car.
- Don't put it in a pocket unless said pocket faces forward and/or up.
- Tank bags are good, if the transponder faces... OK, you should have the idea by now.
- You don't want metal in front of the transponder for reliable operation.

Granted, NTTA has moved to transponder "decals" rather than thick plastic cards - but mine fits on the backside of the windscreen, behind the blacked-out part where it says "Honda."
IIRC, I had to take it off to install it, but it's pretty much invisible unless I am staring down the hole between the dash and the windscreen. Getting the windscreen off was not a big deal.
Once had an EZ pass velcroed (?) to the gas cap ... worked well until once under hard acceleration, I watched it rattle, flip and disappear behind me never to be found again. So much for the strength of 3M! Currently carry the new one in my jacket pocket but this doesn't work at all toll booths, particularly the Skyway. There I have to hand it over and have the attendants type in the serial number.
I use the 'ugly mount' - right on the windscreen. I used to carry it in my pocket. Once I had to take it out and wave it around over my head (the suggestion of the toll taker) to get it to register.
I'm sure there is video being passed around by the toll takers with the caption, "Look at this idiot"

I wrap a soft shop towel around my EZ pass and the slip it down the windshield pocket - so as not to scratch the screen.
