I'm hoping to ride from Fort Worth to Laguna Seca for the MotoGP this summer. I haven't been there before (and this will be my first epic ride). Does anyone have suggestions for camping at the track? It looks like I can reserve a spot, but it's pretty pricy. There are several general camping options that appear to be more affordable, but I'd like to hear from the voice of experience if possible.
Can't speak to the evening noise levels (guessing loud) , security of camp site property once set up etc.
I'll ride in and out.
Day rides, go south on Hwy 1, Big Sur and beyond or north into Santa Cruz mtns.

Depending on your timing and where you cross, you should be able to hook up with a group riding up from L.A.
Camping is not bad; did it for years in the premium spots above turn 2/3. Not loud at night. Can't predict weather, can be cold and windy at night. Bathrooms/shower facilities are so so. Supermarket five miles away. Track food vendors aren't prepared to service campers in the morning. Some hospitality suites serve breakfast if you spring for the package.
Riding south on the 1 is a parade route; scenic but lots of cars.
Riding east through Carmel Valley is nice and has less traffic once you get about five miles inland. Twisty two lane road.
Locals ride Highway 9 between Santa Cruz and Los Gatos. Two lane road. Takes you over some small local mountains. Twisty and fun. It'll take you an hour to get to the starting point in Santa Cruz; once on the other side of the hill you can take the freeways back to Monterey. Half day ride at a minimum.
We camped on Fox hill in the middle of the track last year - its just for motorcycles. No reservations but there was plenty or room. Its undeveloped so only porta potties up there, and a tank with water. All in all a good experience. Around 8 at night the fog and cold rolled in so it kept the partying way down and wasn't loud at all.
