Need to replace my front fender on my 1200 with a carbon fibre or something similar due to a project I am working on. Anyway I am looking up the front fender oem part number and find that it is a 61100-MEL-xxxxx number instead of the normal VFR1200 code of MGE.

From my understanding, the middle code refers to the bike model that this part was originally designed for. A "MEL" code should be for a CBR1000rr 04-07 model. Checked the pics out and they look really really similar. I'm assuming the forks are not the same part model number since the CBR didn't have any ABS etc that I know of but as long as the mounting holes line up I would think it should work.

It would be nice to be able to use a 04-07 CBR front fender since there are more options available and they are way cheaper in price.

Any suggestion as to why this wouldn't work?

Just ordered a Hotbodies racing vented fender for a 07 CBR. Guess I will see when it gets in.

VFR1200 fender 61100-MEL-000ZJ for the 2010 red model

CBR1000 fender 61100-MEL-000ZD for the 2007 titanium metallic model

So it looks like you are seriously on to something here. A Carbon Fibre front fender for that model CBR1000 SHOULD fit the 1200.

Powerbronze offers a CF fender to fit the 1200, which I doubt they would do, unless it already was produced originally for the older CBR1K.

After looking last night I am 99.9% sure that the vfr1200 fender is the exact same fender as off of the CBR1000RR 06-07 models. Everything matches exactly even the brake line mounts. Should be a couple days for the CBR fender to come in to know for sure sure.

New fender should look something like this

I got a carbon fiber one from Powerbronze.  It's BEAUTIFUL.  Expensive, but I love it. $280.  The pic is on my avatar.

Do you have a bigger pic?
Can I ask why you haven't removed the reflectors? Safety or legislation?

I think the design would look much better without them. Here on the continent we get them without the reflectors.
