To me, I would want to buy one with abs, so none of the above, unless #3 does have abs. This being said, maybe you don't want to and then since they all seem comparable (disregard mileage in this occasion, they're all non-broken in as far as I'm concerned) I would take the one with the most farkles. Not sure what else to say. Good luck and please keep us updated as to which one you get?
Actually, I read your post again with greater attention to detail, and I would get the one which comes with bags. They're definitely worth it if you want to commute to work or for touring. Bags are worth maybe $600-700, heli about $300, so well worth the extra money in IMO. But that's just me...
Thanks for the input. I would rather have one with ABS but none of the local ones have it unfortunately. I previously owned a red 02' but had to sell it. I think I really like the dark candy red color of the 2007. I haven't gotten to see a silver vfr yet but think those would be nice too.
One more vote for Option #3 for your easier decision. Mine is 07 also but with ABS. Got it when it was juts 16xx miles ODO. Hmm... I don't think the VFR price goes up like that. :tour:
What's funny is that if you look on cycletrader(Lincoln Nebraska), there is a new/leftover 2009 vfr800 (not sure about ABS) and they won't budge off $10,000
Sorry, I will add that if you prefer abs, wait until you find one. It cannot be retrofitted, so it's a big thing if you want it--cheap insurance IMO.

Very good adding.
You can not buy the ABS system separately and add it onto your bike as the saddle bags or aftermarket muffler.
If your were riding ABS bike, for sure you won't like Non-ABS at all, unless you like playing stunt.
Thanks again for all your helpful suggestions!! I think I will wait until an ABS equipped model comes along. Being a relatively newish rider, I'd rather have the extra help braking if an emergency situation happens.

OK, well It didn't take too long to find an ABS VFR. I found an 06 ABS VFR with 8800 miles for sale @ $5000. My only problem is that it's 150 miles away. I am thinking I will take my truck down, load it up and haul it back. I've got tons of straps and pads, even a wheel chock (if i can find it) once i get it loaded.
How difficult will it be to load up a bike in my full size pickup truck?

It would be a nightmare loading the VFR into a truck imo. I would have a friend drive you down and have a nice ride home on the new bike. I purchased my 2007 RWB in Mason City, IA and rode it back to KC. Took a f'ing bus up there and rode a howling wind all the way home.
Kevin, I'm curious where you are finding these bikes. I've been looking on Craigslist and posting on here but I'm not coming up with deals like a 2006 w/ABS for $5000! Congrats on finding that.
I would rent a uhaul. I would not attempt to put my bike in my truck the ramp would have to be at least 8 ft to have the correct pitch. Trailer would be my option a good piece of mind and I would hate to hand over cash then something happens.
Awh I would go with option #3 I love that rich red/burgundy color!

I've put my VFR and other bikes in the back of my T100 4x4 many times. Just get a ramp, 2 ramps are better to walk it up. For the price of that '06 you can afford the ramps and factory bags.

I'm in the Kansas City area and have just been searching Craigslist hourly. I usually check all cities within a reasonable (400 miles) driving radius. You can use one of the multi-city search sites also. Also I keep any eye on cycle trader and EBay.

You'll like the security of the ABS. I'll love it on my '08.
I've used a pickup and a U-Haul once each to move my bike. The U-Haul was maybe slightly easier, but more expensive option. For the truck, I found a ditch (a dry one) and put the back wheels in there. When I dropped the tailgate, I only needed a very small ramp to get the bike in there. Both times, I was by myself and pushed the bike onboard. The only real hassle with the pickup was finding the right ditch and then getting both the bike and the truck there. BTW, I've found a "canyon dancer" strap to be very useful when strapping down a bike. It fits over the bars and allows you to snug down the front end securely without risking damage to the fairings, fork legs or handbar assembly.
+1 on getting a ride there and riding the bike back.
Sorry for the delay in getting back to this thread, ive been under the weather for a few days.
I was all set to purchase bike #3, had cash in hand, uhaul rented, and we were supposed to meet Saturday the 12th @ 1pm.
Saturday morning I go get my uhaul pickup & motorcycle trailer and not 2 minutes after I leave the uhaul parking lot, I get a txt saying they guy is selling the bike to his brother. :-(. By that time, I had decided I was going to purchase a bike. I called Maxey's in Oklahoma
City to verify the RWB VFR was still there and started driving to OKC ( from Kansas City). MANY HOURS later and after some negotiating, I load up the RWB VFR and drive back to Kansas City. My day ended at about 1130pm when I dropped off the uhaul truck/trailer.
tldr
Missed out on a great deal but got an awesome bike! Love the RWB.
