Speedometer off but odometer seems ok? Speedometer reading higher speed

Quick question as I'm on the road now riding to LA from SEA.

I have my speedometer at 72 when my gps reads 65. This seems to be very high as a variance. So I checked my odometer against the mile markers and state sponsored odometer check and it seemed accurate.

Could this be something to do with my power commander? Or map settings? I'm using the Cozye map from this site.

Yep, stock 6th gen speedo is off around 8%(fast), but odo fairly close.
Not due to any mentioned issue, just factory error.

manufacturers will never allow for a speedometer to read slower than actual vehicle speed, under any circumstances. In order to account for variables like tire diameter, etc. speedometers are always calibrated to read faster than actual vehicle speed. Typically 5 to 10%. Perfectly normal.

Also they focus on odometer accuracy.  - I forget the "whys" (Probaly "lawyers") --- The speedo and odo use the same sensor. So if you add a speedo correction unit, your odo accuracy will go off.

Actually due to the suing public

I just put a Speedo Healer on mine and now speedo 100% accurate but ODO reads low. Best of both worlds.

• Odometer by Law, has to be accurate.   If you sell a Bike with a speedo healer , you have to disclose the odometer reading is not accurate, or you have to lie when you sign the truth and disclosure odometer statement.

I built an odometer correction into my maintenance spreadsheet after installing the Speedohealer.  The reading on the bike is wrong, but I have accurate mileage records for any service performed on the bike.

+1 did the same thing - use a correction factor in my own spreadsheet to account for SpeedoHealer.  It would be interesting to take apart the instrument panel sometime to see if there's any chance of routing separate signals into the gauges.  Maybe there's different circuits in there for speedometer and odometer?  Then we could run the stock signal into the odometer circuit and the SpeedoHealer corrected signal into the speedometer circuit.

I just cheaped out and put a bicycle computer on mine when I changed the rear to a 45 tooth sprocket.
