LA for a week...need some riding ideas

I will be in LA looking for some time to kill as the wife will be working.
Thinking of renting a bike, which i could use some suggestions from any in the area of
places to ride for 1-2 days

also maybe thinking of an off road bike tour thru some sand or forests

any ideas
going november 6-13
