Today was the day I rode my 6th gen, (2006 800A) which I have owned since new in August 06, past the 100,000 mile mark. Did this on a pissy rainy windy day on my way home from the Fraser Valley Christmas Toy Run in BC..
This bike has treated me very well since I bought it. Other than burning out the stator in Vegas this past spring, and a few things which I did to the bike which were detrimental, everything done as far as repaired were concerned are considered maintainance as far a I am concerned.
Now, about the Tourmaster so called Waterproof jacket I was wearing, it didn't work worth a shit. I got very wet until I put on a Teknic rain jacket over top.
Congrats on this impressive milestone. Always happy to read a thread about a bike that has that much mileage on it-especially trouble free. As for the rain, you must admit it was raining buckets today...

Congrats on the milestone. That's some serious mileage annually - I barely put that much on my car each year. Nice that you could capture the event with a photo. Still looking good at 100k!

Until I retired this past spring, I rode this puppy 160 km round trip every day between Chilliwack and Surrey to work, year round. Even was caught in the snow or freezing rain a couple times. Once I had a shield of ice covering my chest when I got home. That was not nice. But the rain does not bother me once I figured out how to stay dry and keep the face shield from fogging up. Any day, rain or shine, on the bike is better than in a cage.

Thank you. The paint was quite worn this past spring so I got a new paint job and custom one off decal kit. But yes it is in prety good shape still. I maintain it quite well and fix what gets broken quickly. That happens more than I care to admit.
Way to go ...... I've done that with 4 bikes in my life, it usually takes about 5 years a bike, but this bike I bought after I retired and am only half way of my usual milage...... think it most be age, or money, probably money.
Back in the late 60's I would have never thought of get 100k miles out of a bike, now I expect it(My 1st was a BMW).
I might add Before I bought this bike, I had never ridden a motorcycle before. I was a virgin! :rolleyes: :laugh:
Really?? This is sad news, because you started off with the BEST bike on the market, which means it's all downhill from here on if you want to switch bikes and you will never know how good you have it... :-))))) twisted logic but you get the idea.

You should be able to appreciate the weather if anyone could. Matter of fact, Chilliwack is protected by dikes and pumps as well. Predominately a Dutch community here.
Well done Randy, and nice to see someone else is still riding in the rain. At least on the freeway you probably don't have to dodge piles of slippery leaves on the road.

We dodged a fair aount of leaves on the toy run Sunday. I hate those The wrap. I don't quite understand your question. The decal kit is brand new so I will keep that for a while. Or am I missing something?

OK. I am older so you understand. Yup. I will try. But since I retired, I don't seem to be riding near as much as I used to so this could take a while.
So I see you have a pretty much brand new bike to trade in to the dealer...
Congrats on the mileage. That's some serious riding, and the bike still looks really nice.
As far as waterproof goes. Try FroggToggs. And as the visor goes, Scorpion makes an electrically heated visor and a dual-pane visor for their snowmobile helmets that also fit on some of their motorcycle helmets. I have the dual pane, and it has never fogged up, no matter what. And does a good/decent job of keeping the water out in the rain. Of course, only helpful if you have or are willing to buy a scorpion.

I used to use dishwashing liquid on the inside of my visors which worked very well once you got used to the slightly dirty film. So long as it did not get wet itself, it worked for several days before it had to be re-applied. But I have since changedto the Pin-lock system. I had tried a similar system before and was not holding out much hope on this but I was pleasantly surprised. It works very well. A side benifit to this system is you can change from a clear shield to a tinted shield with just a quick change of the inner film.
There goes the theory that a newbie's likely to kill himself with anything bigger than a 500 twin as a first bike! :rolleyes:

I have no idea. The '06 only has a five digit display regardless if it is set for imperial or metric. I thought that to be really strange when I turned 100,000 km too.
