Hi All, I just purchased a Honda OEM top box/ trunk for my '07 RWB. I am interested in getting an inner bag liner for this. I have read many positive reviews on the Bestem inner bag liners for the Honda OEM side bags. Is there a top trunk inner liner as well?
For those that have the Honda OEM inner liner for this top trunk, does it fit and work well? I know that one of the complaints about the Honda OEM inner liners is that they don't seem to fill out the space as well, and are expensive on top of it.
I would love to hear some reviews from owners of the Honda OEM top trunk inner liners if there is anyone out there!
You might try a luggage style duffle bag that fits the trunk, something from Eddie Bauer or REI for example. I have a 15 year old Eddie Bauer bag that fits perfectly in my Givi E360. More flexibility than a custom use m/c bag liner, I use mine for business and airline travel in addition to the bike.
I also have the Honda top box on my RWB and use it constantly for my laptop / backpack / lunch when commuting to work. It pops off with a quick press of the red button and has a nice handle to carry the entire box into the office or house. I am trying to understand the problem a liner would solve.
I have used liners in my Triumphs over the years. They keep your contents from shifting around, add another layer of "waterproofing", make it much easier to pack (if it fits in the liner, it will fit in the trunk), and when you get to your destination instead of having to pop off the trunk and lug that around you have a lightweight liner. Once you have used them I guess to me they just make sense.
Thanks for the explanation. I guess my backpack (which contains my laptop, phone and other essentials) acts as a trunk liner per your description :-).
I have heard the honda trunk is fairly waterproof, but I don't have much first hand experience with that. It seems to be very well engineered (gaskets, overlaps, nice tight sound when it closes, etc). I am one of those wimpy "fair day" riders. I'll take my XR out in the rain, but the VFR seems too top heavy to risk a slide.
I have the OEM liners/inner bags for all three - they are great. At the end of the day you pull out all of your luggage and head off to your hotel room or what have you. They fit the contours of the bags quite well - especially the top case liner. You can even zip/unzip the bag if you have more or less stuff to put in. I'd consider it a great investment and I've used them on every day and long-term trip on the bike.
