I've wanted an 86 for years, so when this one came up, I couldn't resist adding it to the stable. Can't wait to ride it when the weather breaks... :tongue:
The bike was located several hours from me, but I had a VFR enabler friend volunteer to go check it out and make the deal. Once he had it back in his garage, he pulled the plastics to do an inspection, and his VFR gene took over. Before he was done, he had set the valves, fully cleaned the carbs, reworked the brakes, installed a VFRness, pulled the swingarm, and too many other numerous items to list...just "because"...

I think that's a reflection, as the tank is fairly pristine. (except for a couple of small chips where it was placed onto the frame tab a little too quickly)
I've been hoarding parts to do the F2/F3 wheel swap...but I probably will just ride it "as is" this season.
The cleanup and maintenance was no big deal, really :happy: I was happy to do it, that bike is in excellent condition. I have a little bit of experience with those, here's a pic of mine and his the day he picked it up. His is the clean one :tongue:

My god, what does it take to register as a big deal?! Washing his bike is no big deal. Checking tire pressure is no big deal. Changing the oil and filling the gas tank is no big deal.
Setting the valves, cleaning the carbs, rebuilding calipers and bleeding brakes, installing a VFRness, pulling the swingarm, washing parts in a dishwasher... THAT'S A BIG DEAL!

In my garage right now are a '86 700F and a '86 750F. It quite frankly gives me pause, every time, to see them right there together. The 700 is for sale and I don't want to see it go. That bike is mine like no other bike ever was, I rescued it from certain parting-out and made it reliable and good-looking again. It's going to make someone a great vintage, fun, capable ride...while the 750 is going to make me a fine twisty rider and hopefully track bike!
Haven't done much work to this bike other than powder coat the wheels. Have acquired a set of F2/F3 rims and p-coated them as well, but that will have to wait for winter...
Meanwhile, it's summer, so it's getting ridden... ;)

Great photos. '07's always look so much better with white wheels like the earlier RWB's - can't figure out why Honda didn't do that. :unsure:
Gorgeous bike. It's very tempting since I live in Indy also. If only I had the garage space. 6 bikes in a 2 car garage, with a truck in there, is pretty dang tight!
